The link to my video isn't working but I highly suggest clicking on it and hearing what he has to say. Especially the 1minute mark to 8minutes. He has a gtx 680, 300gb ssd and a 3770k but gets pretty ****ty performance. UNACCEPTABLE!
He also doesn't overclock any of it. He actually has a 3930k, and if he brought that up to 4.5ghz he would see a huge jump in performance.

But yes, agreed, he should be getting better than 30 frames at medium settings on his rig.

Why would someone who owns that type of processor and video card need to overclock to play games? My cpu at stock or overclock settings doesn't change a damn thing for me in much better looking games like Battlefield 3 when its locked in at 60 fps. Video card overcloks do nothing in PS2.

With that being said the person who has the video has high quality very recent components. He should not need to overclock to maintain 60 fps. When you go from 60 to say 40 fps or stay at 40 fps in big fights you're input lag is increased, making it harder to aim.. its like you will start to feel the lag and input lag decrease you're ability to perform.

I have my sig rig, which is heavily overclocked and I still can't maintain 60 fps, hell most people don't get more then 40 in large fights and its just stupid. Doesn't matter if my processor is 3 generations old most games coming out dont even recommend it yet and overall a newer i7 is more of a side grade in just pure gaming standpoint. If you can seriously say you are getting 60 FPS in LARGE fights at towers, tech plants, bio labs with many people on screen I'd like to see it. Judging by the forum posts and outfit members its not possible currently.

This is a forum called overclock.net I get it, most people here are out to get every bit of performance they can. Some people buy expensive stuff and leave it. Regardless planetside 2 is a directx 9 game, it doesn't look crazy amazing and currently is FUN to play but the performance issues are not fun at all especially when I've spent a lot of money on hardware that works perfectly good for 99% of the other new games coming out right now.

This game hardly uses 50% of my cpu's resources anyway, more like 30% ALWAYS. But overclocking it more would help? Elaborate.

My 2600k @4.6 and 570 (stock atm) runs a solid 50+ fps with all settings maxxed.

I can't tell you what's special about my system, but performance isn't an issue for me.

this is during major fire fights? I'm talking like 100 people not small stuff. AT the warpgate and flying around I always have 60 but in actual fights on the ground with a lot of tanks and stuff not the case, usually 40 which is really annoying.

US east spends most of our time fighting over the crown, and I spend most of the time there, so yes.

They've changed almost everything twice since he made that video lol. Performance is way better now. I'm getting better frame rates than I think I should with my e6850@3.5ghz and gtx 460. I generally stay around 40-50 and drop down to the mid to low 30's in big fights or when a lot of tanks are around. In planes I get well into the 70's and even up into the 100's on esamir, which has ridiculously better performance than indar because of all the nothing going on there.

It's definitely the cpu limiting things though. I get pretty much the same performance on low, medium, or high graphics settings. Only fog shadows really impacts my frame rate.

With this 3570k @ 4.5, i get 40-50 in fire fights, so we'll see what this patch does... Somehow I doubt I'll be cruising at 60 tongue.gif

Same here. I just wish if a game was "CPU BOUND" it would PUSH MY CPU!!! Make me turn my fan controller on my h100 actually on as if i was using a 3D render program or photoshop. Don't tell me its cpu bound then not use 100% of it!!
It's only using 2, sometimes 3 cores. One of them is probably maxed out, or close to it.

But there are some bugs that make the CPU momentarily pause even though there is work it could be doing.
