I just noticed I butchered that post.. It's cold here.. Anyways, it was shown during FNO last Friday from the information they gave out; the new SMG will be more for HA's, they will have a bigger clip (not finalized) and a slower fire rate, not sure on damage and TTK yet. Whisenhunt said "we might get the details on the new rocket launchers before the SMG's are released next week". There is always that chance it won't be here but I'm willing to bet it's getting close.

So in a followup to my previous post about the new ultra settings workign great on my system, turns out that was just a short term result. With the system in my signature I was getting consistent failures of the WDM.exe causing the game to crash.

Switched off of one of the "Aero" themes and dropped the "5" settings in the custom ini file to "4" and left the physx on and the game seems to be much more stable now.

Found my new niche for a while...piloting a Liberator. I just got the Tankbuster for primary, Zephyr for secondary, and the Bulldog grenade launcher for tertiary, no AA though. I'll sit at the warpgate and yell for gunners, then find a nice side battle to orbit over and bombard. It's a lot of fun as long as we stay away from The Crown.

That's quite peculiar. Might be something to do with SLI. Multi-card setups are always neglected until everything else is debugged.

I'm still running with everything cranked up, only thing I've changed was turning down render distance. 999999 was just silly, I could see from warp gate to warp gate as long as there wasn't too much haze.

Played PS2 for the 1st time last night, I thought it was pretty entertaining, the scale is just out of this world, I've never seen so many people running around shooting in a game before, it was pretty sweet.

Quick question you guys, I read something a while back now about forcing an "Ultra" setting in PS2, and that it actually improved performance in some ways (not sure if true), have any of you forced the Ultra setting? Is this true?

And also, what are the most known tweaks for improved performance without lowering the graphical settings? (lowering the view distance maybe, etc)

Yea it would take 20 minutes or so to reach the failure each time so not sure if it was some sort of memory leak mixed with the "aero" desktop that was causing the failure or not. Was up until 3am testing multiple changes before settling on this setting as being the most effective solution.

Don't lower the view distance if you ever intend on flying. And check around post 1450ish in this thread for a discussion on ultra settings. I'm currently using them just fine, but I've also got my processor and GPU chained to the wall while I whip every possible bit of data out of them. Ultra settings are really just a different way of brute-forcing the game to perform better.
