Pre-patch this may have been true, but not anymore. Anchor mode exists for a reason. Don't try to fight a prowler from a distance no matter what faction you are, it's a guaranteed loss if they've certed into anchor. I have over 200 vehicle kills in the last two weeks since the patch, I promise you, you won't win.

Heavy fights with lots of particles bogged down to about 40fps area, still playable, and consistently 50-64 fps all other cases.
Fps seems to fluctuate randomly with PS2 so I think those rates are good.

Game crashed 15 minutes into the first login. I don't think physx is stable yet. No crashes for a 2 hour game session with PhysX disabled.
I just installed the newest drivers and PhysX drivers this morning. 314.07.

I had the same issue and posted about it above. I dropped the view distance to 6000 and set all the "5's" to "4's" in the ini file and gained all my stability back along with switching out of aero mode for my desktop. Were you also getting hte WDM.exe failure along with the crash?

It may hurt fps actually, PS2 doesn't seem to make heavy use of threading. I wanted to experiment on my m11x but options were limited, was hoping to disable HyperThreading and reduce thermals so my Turbo Boost could run higher, but m11x BIOS is near worthless.

Try disabling HT sometime and see what happens. I bet your FPS goes up if that lets Turbo run more.

Was that with the same overclock? Disabling HT may also help you bump clocks a bit more.

I couldn't disable HT, there's no option in my BIOS. At this point I'm only assuming it would help.

This is on my m11x. I haven't tried disabling HT on my desktop because it's GPU-limited anyway, a faster CPU wouldn't give me more FPS.

Well, my rig is on the much lower side of things, and only dual core... but I'll try disabling it tonight and see where it gets me in PS2.

Didn't get the WDM.exe failure. Actually what happened is I got 3 freezes, on the 3rd freeze the PS2.exe app crash notification came up. I did not receive any Aero notices either.

It is possible it was just a fluke as PS2 has done the crash on exit thing multiple times. Although with no further in game crashes I'm still pointing at PhysX.

I'll try setting the values to 4 and see what happens later.
Is there any difference between 4 / 5 with textures? I wish I knew what each value actually affected.

Sounds similar to what mine would do. I'd freeze, go black screen, then a flash of my desktop, then back into the game, black screen again, and then finally crash to desktop with the PS2.exe and WDM.exe errors.

Actually yeah, I couldn't notice a difference between high settings and 4 in the textures, but the difference between high and 5 is night and day.

Coolies, will have to do some comparison shots when I get some time. I do think I noticed that Player models looked a little higher quality.
