Check out this video about the flinch mechanic. It is actually flawed for infantry fights.

I just watched that last night. and the take-away from that video is that ROF=win because of flinch. But I really don't get how that works out in game. I see how it works out on paper perfectly, but if you look at my stats and any other TR player that plays infantry, the NC don't care, because they don't see the screen shake half the time. According to that video the TR should be walking all over the NC because we have the largest gap in ROF, in both our standard issue weapons and those that we can purchase.

If this were true, why am I running from the NC crying like a little girl, to go fight the VS, who have a higher ROF?

When you take that kind of behavior into account and look at those numbers, and assume that my initial encounters with either faction are split 50/50, that means that I get spanked so bad by NC half of the time I encounter them that I can't do anything but leave the fight.

So, from my perspective, the faction that is supoposedly getting shafted by screen flinch doesn't seem to care much.

Well before its too late, I would like to welcome you to Matterson! TR on Matterson LOVE fighting NC and so I do most of my fighting against TR. It's funny that your graph vs VS almost matches mine against TR. Also, I don't think my most played weapon is correct.

Also, have fun with BuzzCutPsycho being on your side!

In most situations for me as LA I ambush people so it has less of an effect. The few instances where I played front line is when I did notice this. Such as defending an objective while taking a defensive position. TR guys just ran into the room and even though I was firing first and landing shots I still lost.

So it basically forces players to constantly be moving to offset the server side latency prediction for when a flinch is to occur on the client. It just takes some of the fun away from "fortifying" a position while technically a charging enemy will win do to a mechanic and not player skill.

It is a small thing, but it is noticeable when you look for it.

As an NC I don't think I've ever seen screen flinch from anything less than 100mm+ shells impacting near me. Playing as heavy a lot lately and with the compensator and foregrip it's a damned accurate combo at any range when aimed down the sights. I looked into the magnum ammo or whatever but this gun hits hard enough to begin with that I don't see the point in it unless I take up sniping with my LMG or they added in a bipod I could deploy for it.

I'm pretty sure magnum ammo is why I don't get a chance to turn around. tongue.gif

But regardless, I don't disagree with the video's claim that flinch reduces competitiveness, I just don't think that it's as big of a deal for the NC as he makes it out to be. According to my profile my preferred weapon is the mini-chaingun, and yet even though I've played with it so much that I know how to keep it spun up so that I never get caught cold-firing it, it makes no difference against the NC.

I'd like to see some adjustments to flinch however, mind you. I'd really like it if they took out the random shake and made it so that getting hit from a particular direction pushed your aim in the opposite direction. So getting shot from the right would push your aim to the left, or getting shot on the left side of your body while facing someone directly would pull your aim to the left. This, I think, is 100% acceptable by everyone.

I also think they should improve the impact damages to aircraft and ground vehicles. I hate it when you tap you nose of the Galaxy against a leg of a tech center and blow up, or land a bit too hard in the midst of combat. Also, the collisions that bump you 500ft irritate me.

Well, we already have Liberators, so for me, a gunship would be redundant, and useless, unless it would be more powerful than the Lib, which in turn would mean it was way OP. Lib farming is bad enough as it is.

However, a bombing system would be cool, like carpet bombing, or something. I could see a lot of bombing suicide runs or something, so they'd have to figure out a way to limit it. Maybe something like using resources for bombs, similar to grenades (Just way more expensive), and maybe an armor tradoff for equipping the system, to make sure the thing can't just sweep over a tank column full of Skygaurds with a payload and get away to repair.

I don't know, it still seems a little OP, but it's a decent idea... maybe they could at least do some testing on it.

In the end though, the Gallaxy is intended for transport. To me, if they are going to add anything to it, it should be a cargo bay for a vehicle. Now that would be awesome, and not so OP. Could you imagine a Gallaxy rush with 3 or 4 Gals, a Sundie inside and a few tanks? Devistating percision strike, is all I can say!

They're already doing orbital strikes, which is essentially carpet bombing by a different name, without the galaxy. Does anyone remember why they took deployment away from Galaxy's? It seemed perfectly fine to me, and I wasn't reading the forums at the time the decision was made.

Handling on the galaxy is bad enough without putting a bunch of armor inside. biggrin.gif I would love to see what it would look like if they made weight factor into handling, and then made that possible. Probably similar to stuffing a barrel half full of chunks of randomly shaped steel, and then trying to ride it down an icy hillside.

Edit: I don't see this happening anytime soon though, because the immediate response would be for everyone who has a skyguard to get dropped on top of the bio-domes and just block all of the enemy air for as far as they can see.

True, but that's why they should add a fall-through mechanic, as the dome shouldn't be strong enough to hold a Lightening! biggrin.gif

It was just a theory, not like I thought they will actually do it.
