I recently started playing but am simply not having much fun. There is so much stuff that has no explanation. I basically choose stuff at random and see what it does. I'm also dying in seconds to people I sometimes can't even see. I just see a line of fire coming from what looks like an empty doorway or whatever and just die. Not fun.

Props to the Devil Dogs. Ya'll put up a helluva fight last night during the E3 trailer recording - the 666'th clearly plays at a higher level than any native Mattherson TR or NC outfit.

It was the most exciting gaming session I've had in a long time.

I thought we were going to take The Ascent when we had a 54/46 pop advantage, but then you got reinforced and swung it to 40/60 in your favor. It was too much given our poor choice of Sunderer placement. The After Action Report on the AT forums is an interesting read. Apparently our AMS survived too long due to lack of concentrated Phoenix fire and uncerted characters w/o mines and C4, but we still didn't pull enough of them.

Unfortunately for the NC, it took so many blue bodies to hold us off, that the VS zerg was able to cap 65% of the continent before the Alert ended biggrin.gif
To that end, it was probably significant that, after failing to take The Ascent, we crushed 3 large TR armor formations with minimal losses.

Thank you Ragequit and GOKU - how many times did we coincidentally all converge at the same base at the same time for a last minute resecure (in one case, a last second resecure, literally 1 second left on the cap timer)?

Yeah, its a bit like that when you first start off. It can be very overwhelming.

There is a new tutorial section now and the VR area where you can try stuff out for free.

I'd suggest you hang in there for a little longer, hit "insert' when you get to your warp gate and roll with a squad for a while. Watch what they do, when they do it and what they use.

If you go medic or engineer first up, you can concentrate on support rather than trying to shoot the other guys. You also get XP for your support efforts so at least your earning stuff while your learning. Everyone needs an engineer or medic smile.gif

Also have a look here (its a bit dated but info is still good)

This is a great resource too;

There is heaps to learn. I just cracked BR 50 and I am still learning new stuff everyday.

still no mention of turning the reaver into something better than a flying brick with a shotgun or making the scythe not a flying battering ram frown.gif
the air hammer is slowly but surely not keeping me wanting to fly my reaver after returning from my tr-mozzie alt. I have 0 certs into my mozzie performance/defense-wise and still can fly much better than my r3+stealth reaver.

Guns still need to be cheaper, still takes a dang decade to get a gun unless you play2play, even then you can get maybe one or two guns for 10$ worth of station cash, which is a huge rip IMO.

From my experience, playing both the TR and VS, the VS is extremely nerfed right now and the TR has insane weapons, the TR air is ridiculously overpowered and so are the MAX's.

agree that the guns are pretty expensive, but not too expensive that it is unrealistic. also the defaults and cheaper weapons aren't terribly bad, it is using the other weapons if you want a different specialty. some of the defaults are actually preferred by a good many of players (like the Gauss Saw).
as far as the weaponry, TR has always had a bit of an advantage with most weapons having the best TTK in their category, but that is mostly nullified now with the reduced tremble mechanics. if you are standing 10 feet away from each other shooting, the TR will probably win, but in other situations you can get the better of them. as far as the maxes, maybe the burster maxes are a bit better than the others, the VS max has a considerable advantage in a ground fight and the nc max shield is just ridiculously useless. I can agree with you on the air 100% though, the mozzies are spectacular to fly. the scythes aren't far behind them, with the nc getting the long-last place finish as usual.
