My GTX 680 SLI setup holds 80-150 FPS depending on the battles. I've yet to dip below the the 60 FPS marker. But the game does still have a ways to go. Let's see how the optimization on the 30th goes, and then see.

NC? Meh. Whatever. I don't hate them like I do the nubs on TR.

Agree 100%. And why does the VS have better skilled players? This goes far back to early beta testing, and even through release. The VS have always been the last to get anything. Our guns were all basic reskin with no stats thoughout beta, we don't have a effective weapon like the TR chaingun, or the NC mini. The lasher is a joke. We've always had a lower population as well. Something about "purple" scares people. So the leaders that have been making platoons since beta have learned to work with our smaller numbers. We've learned that wing mates are importent, we've learned that flanking is importent, we've learned that hiding a sunderer on the same side your primary forces are attacking from makes it a target, so hide them on the flanks.

We've learned all these hard lession, and we consistently work with out fellow Platoon/outfit leaders in the leadership channels. The TR just roll with massive inflated numbers because their popular. And NC just cannot seem to every organize themselves except to double team on the VS when the TR have most of the map..lol

how much do you expect to come out of this game? what is battlefield and CS and COD.. like bragging about 64 man servers? i've seen more enemies than that on a hex. sure, it may not have all these finesses (and I do hope stuff does get added as promised by soe devs) that other games do, but with a good group to run with, especially a larger outfit, i find it far from tiring (except being farmed by liberators) when i can just jump into a different division and roll 12 vanguard deep, or run with a team of dedicated snipers at my whim. achievements? do you need someone to tell you how well you're doing at regular intervals to enjoy a game? actually, it does. i have many 'achievements' unlocked for most of my weapons, bronze silver whatnot. also, BR. pointless combat? i thought that was the point, and the theme of every shooter i have ever played. you and you... shoot at each other because you're on different teams. do you want them to announce at specified intervals who is winning? every fight is a winner and a loser, who took or didn't take the base. instead of having to stop and see everyone's name on the scoresheet and whatnot, you just keep moving and killing people. or moving and healing, repairing what ever. this game has a lot to complain about, but being tiring or pointless (unless you're getting lib farmed lol) is not one of them.

Ha, must be the server you're on, On Connery, the TR and VS are ALWAYS double teaming the NC. I've been in fights watching as VS and TR stand side by side to kill NC and then NOT turn to fire on each other afterwords.

This game isn't good for a player that needs a constant pat on the back. IMO, too many people believe they need achievement systems in every game they play. Forget that, I want something more meaningful when I get a bunch of kills, ect. That's one reason I love PS2 the way I do. I don't need achievements, I have Certs. Granted, the Cert system is FAR from perfect, but they are working on it.

Guess I need to clarify this. I didn't mean achievement like an ingame reward system, I mean an individual psychological achievement, like the feel like something of importance was done. Like when I play a tactical game, let's say hostage rescue, if you plan the approach, set up a team, go into action, eventually succeed, and see you plan work out and everything goes smooth. There's building up tension and a resolution, its a curve. I feel like things like that give you some inner satisfaction, this is the achievement. PS2 feels more like a flat line of same-ness. While it is true that there's base capturing, which if succeeds only because of team work is a satisfaction, but if you realize that the game is made of seamlessly endless base capturing scenarios, over and over again. No end of conflict, no shift of events, no resolution, no conclusion, nothing you take away from it, just constant and endless struggle. Meat grinder.
I have to say that initially, when I had not a clue about what is going on, did not look at the map once, had no idea where to go and just hopped on a convoy to the next battle, the game felt big and exciting, this is where I got hooked really, couldn't stop to play, but when I learned the mechanics, what result there is to capturing things and stuff, the excitement vanished. I still hop on a few rounds now and then, but it is really hard to keep motivation.

Funny thing is, what I've been doing lately were things like sneaking deep into the enemy territory and climb on top of enemy structures as light infantry (flying), without using the lifts, but the structures on the walls (since I can't fly far). I spent like an hour climbing up the Mao Tech plant all by muscle (hate those fake cables that look like you could land on, but clip through mad.gif ). I've been sneaking around without hearing a human sound for an hour, close to enemy warp gate (lots of easy to pick targets, all the half dead moskitos desperately reaching for safety).
Funny how you get ignored if they fly over your head, because they don't expect you there. Once a lib fired at me, but went on. Once I fired at a moskito with my rifle and he went looking for me. I flanked and observed from the cover of a rock how he was hovering looking for the source of trouble but didn't find me.
I once moved through a canyon on Indar as a heavy, seconds after I exited the pass a moskito flew really low (right above ground) all the way through that same valley snake-path. I was hiding behind a rock when he went past me. If he flew there seconds earlier, the entire valley path had not a single cover. I'd be dead, this entire moment had something cinematic to it, like Star Wars or so, lol. It was like playing a single player game with random events.
You should try to travel Indar, off combat. Its such a well made place, the shells in the desert indicating that the entire plane was an ocean once, gives you a sense of history of the place. Makes apparent that the cliffs in the south were the beaches. You hear creatures roaring in the night from afar and crickets all around you and when the day sets, you can almost feel the heat.
It's awesome to observe how that small planet crosses the large planet on the sky and when clouds move in front of both.
Ah well, the single player sneaky bastard in me awoke I guess, but these were the memorable moments of late, not the boring gameplay.

Pod crashing on a farming enemy lib is best thing ever though... I could do it all day long.

Please, please people. Don't take the current situations on your servers as a golden standard.

The VS are underpopulated? Maybe tonight I should grab a screenshot from my server showing the VS %10 higher than the TR. Don't even ask what the NC population is like.

The VS players are more skilled? On Soltech they're a bunch of geese. I'm not going to go into specifics, but just let me point out one thing that is very descriptive of the VS population on my server. The only players from any faction that I have seen that still think it's hip to teabag someone after killing them? Vanu. Even with their 10% population advantage the NC are rougher than they are. Difference being that the NC run out of bodies to throw in the breach much sooner.

Given the differences in player skill on my server, the weapons seem pretty balanced. Looking at my statistics and judging objectively by what I know about myself (I'm a perfect "average" player) the kills and deaths to each faction are right where they should be. 1 to 1 across the board. If something seems unbalanced on your server, character transfers are supposed to be implemented on the 30th.

what about the basic situations? on connery, it is mostly esamir and amerish being empty, ghost capped by whoever happens to feel like it at the time (usually nc) with 90% of the fights taking place on indar, where the tr have a definitive map advantage. I don't believe I have seen once where tr were not in control of indar.

Well, I don't log in day after day. Played today and yesterday a bit after a "break", but get again tired too fast as usual. Reason is, I play mostly old games and it is no longer possible to just go an play them anytime you wish, because there are usually limited times where people bunch up. I need to have a new game already. When ArmA3 goes online, I will not have reason to play Planetside 2 anymore I guess.

Also, what you're getting wrong. I like aspects of PS2, these are the things that I log in for still, but the not so great things are the ones that put it down fast. No game is perfect, but I never experienced such an ambivalent view angle on a game from myself before. I blame the whole F2P/MMO element for that. These things aren't for me and will never be. So I guess I feel like a guest at PS2, just staying until something better comes by (ArmA3). However, I still enjoy the "bright side" of PS2, but it will not last.

That's about it.

That's being fixed, all of the changes they're doing to base design and XP rewards, plus resources on the 30th are going to take care of that. I just want to see the servers fill up so that all 3 continents stay busy.

Edit: I should ask though, what makes you think TR have a geographic advantage? Position of the warp gate? That has no advantage whatsoever. Once people stop obsessing over the crown they will start pushing up the sides like they used to do, and the TR, as usual, will only have enough manpower to defend one side or the other, and it'll keep flip-flopping from NC pushing up to the gate on one side to Vanu on the other. I used to watch this happen a dozen times every night, but since the double xp weekend everybody just pushes towards the middle at the crown and ends up in a clustershmuck that doesn't accomplish anything. Give the noobs some time to get it through their thick skulls that there's nothing worthwhile there. They're special.

They're special.
it isn't the crown specifically that give the tr the advantage, but it does help. a lot. what usually happens is us making it to mao, after fighting against soo many liberators after you cross the ridge to the north of rashnu. from mao, we may push forward a bit, but it is a long siege of every single base. even when we do push them to warpgate on the eastside, we still have to take the crown from tr, and crossroads watchtower (aka magrider hill) from the vanu. the tr will all hole up in allatum bio lab and start taking back the territories we captured. the vanu have no interest in anything but that small section of the map in the middle so they are about worthless... and whatever progress you make fighting all day long to take, the chineese tr zerg take it back uncontested at like 4am while everyone else is sleeping. i don't know about every other server, but a lot of the people I play with absolutely hate indar, only go there when they absolutely cannot find a single half way alright fight on the other 2 continents, and have wishes such as "the crown should be turned into a crater" and "indar should just be deleted". I enjoy the fights on Indar (south of the ridge where we can actually fight, and not just be a contest of who can bring the most liberators to the party. hint: it's tr. tr always wins that one) and I think indar does need some tweaks to be more balanced, but I'd personally be happy if they would just delete the existence of liberators.
