That depends entirely on whether or not Gmaps correctly said the location didn't exist (I have no idea if it does or not) and whether or not iOS Maps is totally broken (it is).

Google maps was displaying a location that currently isn't recognized by the United States Postal Office as a valid address. Whereas Apple maps took you to the nearest matching ( that it could find ) valid address.

Neither were right in this scenario.

Personally I wouldn't want to be using Google maps thinking it's supposed to be right, but didn't tell me that the address isn't valid, so I follow it thinking it's right only to find out, that's not what I wanted. All because Google made it predict where the address would be if someone were to build a residence on it.

At least Apples took you to a different part of town which you would of noticed wasn't right, hopefully. Although, in a different scenario that could be just as bad, if one were to follow the maps blindly thinking it was right.

Because both were terrible when they were first released, but people (especially the Android sheep) are acting like Apple Maps is the worst thing to ever happen in the world. I know what you are saying about them being stupid for getting rid of Google Maps all together but if you read this whole thread (which I assume you haven't and if I'm honest I don't blame you, I wouldn't have read all ~140 posts) you will see I already came up with something a lot better Apple could have done.

And no, it doesn't excuse Apples awful maps app, but you can't expect it to be perfect, especially as it has been in development for less than a year and it's technically still in beta IIRC. Even Google maps isn't perfect after around 10 years.
No, you shouldn't try Apple Maps if you don't want to. If you do want to then go ahead, I'm not going to stop you. I do agree they shouldn't have forced it onto people with iOS 6, they should have still had Google Maps in iOS 6 but also have Apple Maps available if anyone wants to try it. At least until Apple Maps gets as good as Google Maps is now.

If they had done that, they wouldn't be getting the flack they are getting now. wink.gif

On OCN, they get so much flack because they sue over the stupidest things, while they themselves copy others.

Aren't they copying AND replacing Google Maps? wink.gif

If they let others innovate as they have, they wouldn't get so much hate.

But when they sue over pinch to zoom, bounce back, even Slide to Unlock, they deserve what's coming to them when they make mistakes, especially when they position their service as the most "powerful mapping service ever."

The difference is that Nokia maps came out in 07. The expected standards where different then. Back then google maps weren't as good as they are now either. Further more Nokia maps improved very fast after the initial release and and beat google maps in implementing some features like good turn by turn navigation. In fact google is still inferior to nokia in that regard.

But its not 07 anymore so when Apple comes out with its own map/navigation software it will be compared to today's standards.
