Maxtor MaxlineIII 250GB...dead

So I get home from work, anticipating my normal monday routine, paying bills online, checking email, listening to some music...get about 3 min into screwin around the the computer freezes. I think to myself "now thats odd, I havent had any issues after switching to the FX from the opteron...what the heck could it be?".

I reached over and felt the drive (still building up the water for this crossfired rig) and noted that the harddrive wasnt near as warm as it typically is. I restarted thinking nothing of it. The system goes right to boot from cd "uh oh"...so I restarted again, going into bios to make sure this puppy is reading right. Find out it is not reading the harddrive AT ALL. In fact, I didnt even hear or feel it spin up.

I took out my trusty sata/USB adaptor from newegg, to try the drive with the laptop (the ole failsafe) and what do you know? Nothing. Again, no spin up.

So, I've had it with harddrives...that's three drives in less months. They're dropping like flies!

I will say that the drive performed exceedingly well considering it was SATA150 and not a SATAII, but it was a 16meg cache. (Scored 5.1 in Vista's perf test...not bad I say)

Advanced RMA FTW!

Nice to get a little upgrade when things go bad eh?

I'm not looking forward to reinstalling Vista and Win64...
