True, I'm sure Sapphire will release some nice ones

P.S. Sapphire is releasing a X1650XT this month, which is supposed to be a decent card, just in case anyone is looking for a budget (~$150) but powerful card.

Wait a second, what are they naming the R600 line?

Be sure it's the X1650 "XT"

Whatever happened to simple naming schemes? I remember the Geforce 3. I mean seriously, they could do:

XXXX 101
XXXX 102
XXXX 103
XXXX 104
XXXX 110
XXXX 201

Maybe I am just an organization freak though.

for a cheep gpu, i got a X1650pro (625mhz core / 1.4ghz mem) and even thought 12 pixle pipelines is few, i run oblivion MAXED. when i first got it i played NWN2 and went from low to high on graphics settings (from an X850 pro, go figure)

what are the specs Approximatly for the r600?
is it a 90nm chip?

As far as we know the R600 is going to have 512MB of RAM (GDDR3 at first and then GDDR4 later, most likely) and up to 2GB RAM on the highest end/workstation class cards. It'll probably have a 512bit memory bus which would be by far the widest bus on any video card available, also it has a unified shader architecture like the 8800GTS/GTX but with more overall shaders, if I remember correctly, than the G80. That's all I remember off the top of my head but I do remember that on paper the R600 is much more powerful than the G80 in every way.

Also, R600 is going to be 80nm which isn't too big of a step from 90nm but that should help it reach ATI's target of a 1GHz core (it's what they were aiming for but I have no clue how close they are to that goal)

Lastly, remember that anything anybody claims to know at this point is just rumors and speculation, there simply are no hard facts on the R600 as of yet.

We need the $400 (max), $660? they're nuts!
Nvidia's pricing is $599. I am waiting for $$ and for these cards to go under their MSRP.
