[S|A] Asus looking to buy Asrock

Currently word has it that an offer has been made for Asrock, and Pegatron is essentially fine with the terms. This would take the #1 and #3 mobo makers and combine them, leaving the industry with one massive behemoth, one solid player, and a lot of minnows struggling to make waves.

http://semiaccurate.com/2012/09/28/asus-makes-an-offer-to-buy-asrock/

That's a bit disconcerting, competition is a good thing.

Noo! Don't let Asus buy a sock! Boycott!!!

On topic, I don't think I'd like this... ASRock has really stepped up its game recently and I'd like to see them continue on as another competitor in the industry. I like Asus, but they really charge an arm and a leg for their ROG boards. ASRock's top of the line OC board is quite affordable (Z77 OC Formula at $240).

Ewww... no thanks. ASUS has gone downhill IMO and ASRock has been doing pretty well. I'd rather they stay independent =/

Also, I've never heard of ASRock being owned by ASUS. They're owned by Pegatron, which is also a producer of iPhones aren't they?

ASRock hardware + ASUS Software at a lower price point than ASUS current hardware would be great. ASRock's BIOS and software is crap IMO.

Whoops, fixed. Yes, I would like Asrock to keep some pressure on prices..

More than that...They actually became more reliable than Asus.

I really  this to the max...Especially in regards to the way Asus's customer service is ATM.

That's most likely the reason they want Asrock so badly...Asrock actually has a customer service department that can tell their butts from their elbows...
