I thought people liked Asus again. I seem to remember them having a pretty crappy period a few generations back, but when I built this rig a year or two ago Asus seemed like the standout solid choice for most people. That P8P67 thread was huge and firmware updates came out left and right for a few months. Board is still going strong so I can't complain.

I think the history of these two companies is funny. I remember lots of people saying incorrectly they were the same company (heck, I might have ever said it) after they split, and now they might merge again just when everyone is getting comfortable.

Asrock has probably been hurting Asus in the less than $200 motherboards. From what I can tell, all of Asrock $100 - $190 motherboards are better than Asus offerings. Better cooling, OC capabilities, and features. Asrock motherboards also seem to be extremely reliable as well.

I hope Asus doesn't buy them out. We need the competition and Asrock has really been competing with the big guys.

I want to go ASRock again in the future; ASUS is nice but I liked my old ASRock motherboard a bit better for some reason... maybe it's the Asmedia stuff ASUS forced onto this motherboard.

ASRock stepping up it's game?
Mate i BEG TO DIFFER.....
ASROCK are nothing less than shocking when it comes to compatibility....
Their boards are ridiculous and are an obvious spin off the ASUS line, except using cheap components.
I test boards and components for a living and this whole ASRock has stepped up its game buisness? is just plain rubbish.
Theyre boards are cheap and always will be. Most RAM isn't even compatible with their boards let alone anything above 2200mhz yet they state that they can do 2800mhz+
Weve had 100's of ASRock board Returns from customers complaining about their cheap ASRock boards.
Just because ASRock sell, doesn't mean that theyre products are good.
BTW... One of ASUS' founders is actually the head chairman of ASRock. The company was made on purpose to milk the market and kinda under quote other leading board makers like gigabyte. ASUS and ASRock were always one. ASUS just did the dodgy.
ASRock now think that their boards come close to HIGH-END and are trying to charge premium $.....i'll say from experience and RMA's/Returns etc... that the asrock boards are rubbish.

Also, I've never heard of ASRock being owned by ASUS. They're owned by Pegatron, which is also a producer of iPhones aren't they?
