[UB] Blizzard’s Project Titan In The Middle Of Development, Over 100 Team Members. (VIDEO) - Page 7

He seems to be speaking with information he clearly doesn't even have a clue about. Early early prototypes of Titan started surfacing with a 3man team in LATE 2006. There wasnt even a "team" (at blizzard there are large teams that stick together and are moved around from project to project, and then there are "residents" who work on a project until they are either moved or leave the company, sometimes they work on the same project for years without waiver) on Titan until 2008. So for you to say that it was in "development" since 2006 is B.S. to say the least. Please do not spread rumors/information that is not true thumb.gif This is coming from someone.... Close to Blizzard. As for the game being almost 8-9yrs old by release, is also B.S. as, full scale development didn't start until late 2008, and then didn't receive full attention of a team until 2009, when Blizzard starting to expand with a newer campus across the street from the HQ. A full time team of just under 100 people joined the small crew who were prototyping, concepting, blocking out, designing, etc, already, to fill out the main production crew on the new project. As for Blizzard changing there ways... Why would someone fix something that isnt broke? (unless you are building a computer of course... Fix it till it IS broken) If the subscription plan is working, they still have 10m subs on WoW alone, and they have people coming back on a regular basis, to a game that was released 7yrs ago... I mean, think about it. They have destroyed all operating costs, development costs, paid off all their loans, are expanding, constantly hiring and moving through staff, and can hold one of the largest game conferences in the world every year, dedicated to strictly just their 3 current IPs.... ALL mainly from the revenue received from WoW. They wouldn't have been able to do anything this extravagant without the immense income/revenue generated. I personally think they should stay on subscriptions until they reach 2m subscribers, as they would still be making quite a bit of money until then, at 2m theyd be getting close to operating costs of the game.

I'd like to point out blizzard tried to sue the guy who made the World of starcraft Mod, but i believe they reached a compromise.

I know they said it would be a new Franchise/IP but... it could honestly be WoS

At least i have a game to look forward too, feel all the MMOs since vanilla/BC WoW have been a crapshoot that i can't seem to keep RL friends interested in.

I think the MMO genre is losing it's touch to some veteran gamers like myself. Something truly innovative needs to happen in the MMO space. Everyone thought GW2 would be it, which truly was a great game with many good concepts, it just seemed to fail in keeping me interested.

I hate to boil it down to this, but if anyone can reinvent the wheel, it's Blizzard.

I totally disagree. I think "Titan" will end up as another WoW - be it slightly better looking (i would hope) and a different setting, it wont be revolutionary, it wont be that much of a change combat wise and i dont think the quests, dungeon system, Raids and PvP wont be that much different and it will start out tough but end up like wow - dumbed down for the casual gamer leaving the "Hard core" gamers disappointed again.

They shut down anyone if they used one of their propierty names. Has happened several times, though in that case they also thought he wasn't just using the sc2 editor to make it, they ended up just asking him to rename the project. I remember they shut a guy down making a sc2 mod with the warcraft 3 editor several years before sc2 launched.

I couldn't agree more with this statement.

I expect it to cater to casuals, but I do expect it to be quite different then WoW though. There has been rumors for a while its a more action or fps based MMO.

I hope its something awesome. I played wow from the beginning til about 2 months after cata when i lost interest with the game having no difficulty at all.

I hope it is a futuristic/space themed mmo...would love to see one be done really good. I am really excited either way, been waiting to see what this one is going to be about for a while.

Maybe action but i really doubt it will be an FPS, they just dont do very well. Though it all depends on what the "action" could be

You're right in the sense that it won't be "revolutionary" per say, because that's not what Blizzard does. They take the good ideas that have been used in the past by whoever and perfect/polish them, and it works out quite well for them. wink.gif

I guess by 'reinvent the wheel', I meant that it would be THE next huge mmo.
