Fukushima was struck by an earthquake that if it had hit any other place of the world, the whole thing would have been reduced to dust and metal scrap.

Just so you know, the Tohoku earthquake was, roughly, one thousand times stronger than the strongest earthquakes recorded in the latest years in California, which were hovering the 7 degrees Richter, and around eight thousand times the strength of the latest major quake in the state, in January 2010.

I say the power plant was pretty freaking strong.

Any improvement to nuclear power plants is welcome, but they're not the future. The recent one maybe, but not the long term.

They thought the Titanic was unsinkable. Yet on it's first trip it sank. Humans have big egos. This will just be another big ego trip to prove we can do it. And then bam next thing you know we got a man made disaster on our hands

Nuclear power is orders of magnitude safer than watercraft.

May I please see your nuclear engineering degree, I mean to make such a claim despite evidence to the contrary (ie. The vast majority of nuclear power plants that are replaced by their use-by date not blowing up) you clearly must have one to understand all of the things inside those reactors and know for sure that it'd fail.

The people who declared the Titanic "unsinkable" were fat-cat moguls and sensationalist newspapers. The people telling you that nuclear power is extremely safe are highly educated, extremely intelligent nuclear physicists and engineers.

Do you see the difference?

Noting like Tepco telling people the plants were under control and didnt need any help. Every corp would do the same as they dont want to lose face in the public eye. Its much easier letting a disaster play its course and find a scape goat and deal with the fall out then coming forward during a disaster saying "hey we cant fix this can we get some help"
