Accidentally deleted "My Documents" - How do I get it back?

Thread Starter
It's a long story. I tried to move my documents but ended up deleting it instead.

Now, I just want the original "My Documents" folder back the way it was. I have system restore disabled, so that's not an option.

I would just create a new folder named "My Documents", but I'm pretty sure that the original one had some different properties, no? How do I get it back exactly like it was?

check your recycle bin?

If it isn't in the recycle bin i read somewhere you can recover the data aslong as the place where it was originally stored hasn't been overwritten yet, might be worth looking into.
Apart from that i can only suggest checking recycle bin.

I'm sorry guys, I wasn't clear.

I didn't even have any documents in the folder that I care about --

I'm simply talking about recreating a "My Documents" folder with the correct properties so that programs will know where it's at and that sort of thing. Also, it's not in the recycle bin.
Some one stop me if im wrong but,
If you just create another My Documents all the paths should all be there already, as long as you name it exactly as it was before and in the same place you should be set.

This is correct.

The documents folder is just a regular folder. Only your user account can access it, besides an administrative user, because of permission inheritance.

Try either creating a new account with the same name or just a new account. Thanks

So, simply creating a new folder will not work? This seems like some length to go through to get it back, though I had considered this option.

I believe there is a way. Let me find it.

Best way: Recuva. Don't forget to check "restore folder tree" in the options.
