Do yourself a favor and get an iPhone.
He didn't mention that he held it in his original post, so that's why people said to go hold it. You recommend to get the iPhone, yet it clearly says he wants an iPhone 5 alternative...doh.gif

Look at how awful the image stabilization, camera quality, and sensors are on top tier android phones:

I will agree that the iPhone camera is better in some ways. It all depends on what the person likes. I think the audio is much better on the iPhone, but the image quality is bleh. On the S III, the audio is junk, but the image quality is gorgeous.

That drop test was awful lol. The S III has a much better screen. Gorilla glass II. That's a much better build quality than the iPhone 5's screen. I will say that I hate how Samsung uses a plastic chassis though. Kills the phone's design.

Of course the iPhone 5 is going to be faster. It's NEWER. rolleyes.gif It's not about the speed, it's about the features. With Android, you can overclock to get to the iPhone 5 speed with 2 touches. The features on most top tier Android phones are MUCH better than iPhone. The iPhone uses outdated features that have been out on Android for years already. The all "new" panoramic mode? Please. It's been on Android for a while. S Voice/Google Now is WAY better than SIRI. Watch some comparison videos. It takes SIRI nearly double and sometimes triple the time to find an answer that S Voice/Google Now has already found. Did I mention there isn't Google Maps on the iPhone 5? LOL take a look at how much their new maps failed...

There are many other reasons why I think the iPhone is just an outdated piece of garbage. I just can't think right now tongue.gif

What we need is the 920s camera in an android phone.

Can't tell you how displeased I've been with Android phones camera sensors.

Your "facts" are moot
if anything those links posted would suggest... GET A LUMINA! WP8 might actually be worth gettiung and the Lumina is sexy so is the 8X thumb.gif
A real Android low light image *Stock ICS Camera App *ISO: 100 *Flash Off *Macro focus *Light source Two 12" UV CCFL tubes

And I'm pretty sure it's been gone over more than once in just about every PC forum and even XDA...
Benchmarks do not reflect the actual daily use "speed" Besides the ip5 gets what a 1600, about the same for a GS3 and One X
http://www.overclock.net/t/1308133/et-iphone-5-benchmarks-slower-than-the-galaxy-s3-faster-than-the-nexus-7
Geekbench shows my phone at a 8xx with a SnapDragon S3 8060 @ 1.7ghz

Drops tests are just for show. this shows nothing for build quality other than oh a phone with a glass screen with shatter when you drop it.

Again I say

I have a black iPhone 5; I fit a black Rocketfish (Best Buy brand) case on it the moment I opened it, and I'm fine. I doubt I'm ever going back to Android now (previous phone was a Droid X) because of the App Store and camera quality.

The way it was stated in the first post instantly implied that he THOUGHT it was too big and had not tried it. Also if you were truly a phone enthusiast you would know that tests only matter to an extent. The margin for error within them is so preposterously high that they become irrelevant when getting to comparisons of flagship models. The number 1 choice going into a phone should always be user experience, that's why the walk-in stores exist. You are supposed to go in and try the phone out for a bit, if it works great for you then buy, if not move along, there are plenty of options.

I find it funny when Android users throw away benchmarks because the iphone beats theirs out and say it's prone to error...but then in a few months when a new Android phone comes out that destroys the apple precedent they're quick to jump back on the benchmark bandwagon.

Honestly, it's disgusting how Android users have become. Most of them have becomes so blatantly Apple hating that "the pursuit of technology" has gone out of the window.

Appreciate Apple for what it does. Bash it for what it doesn't do well..just like you would an Android phone. There's no reason to like one over the other in its entirety.

Its been used in my car as an MP3 player, I've had it in pockets with change/keys, I've sat on it in my back pocket...don't get me wrong, I don't mistreat my electronics but I don't keep my phone in a kevlar otterbox case either. Not a single scratch anywhere on the phone. thumb.gif The metal problems its had seem to be a bit overblown by the media.

I hate how cases make the phone feel and look, so I've never used one on any phone I've had. In my experience the nekked iPhone 5 has top-notch build quality. Time will tell if the durability holds (its only been a week), but it seems a lot sturdier with the metal parts as opposed to the all glass back of the 4. If you're 'considering' it, I wouldn't let doubts about build quality hold you back.

Apple is good at appealing to the general user, and will always be a recommendation to the user that just doesn't want to mess with anything or tweak it. This should also be a consideration for "Just a nickname" when choosing out a phone. On one hand you have a semi-locked down apple device that will just work, on the other hand you have an android device that if you choose to pursue customizing it you run the risk of bricking an $800 phone. It all comes down to the user preference and what risks they are willing to take. Also the reason nobody liked the S3 v ip5 benchmarks was that most of them where the ip5 won appeared to be staged. Be it dropping the S3 in a way that there was no possibility for the screen not to shatter, or even dropping from different heights.

I swear this is turning into the new "Intel vs. AMD" where people are willing to cheat drop-tests just to say one phone is better than the other. Once I saw an iphone vs galaxy drop test where they dropped the face of the iphone on a sharp rock that impaled the screen, yet they dropped the galaxy flat on its back. It's not just one side causing the problem, it's users of both.

As a suggestion to "Just a nickname", go to the store, try out a bunch of phones. Find a balance between what feels right and what performs great to you as a user and then buy that. You shouldn't be limited by what we think, just write down some names of phones if you can, go home and look at the specs and see what 'does it' for you. Since you already said the iphone 5 a few times I am going to assume you will pick that so have fun! thumb.gif

EDIT: Also, if you are worried about scratching it pick up an otterbox case or something decent and you'll be golden.
