(FIXED! ) On reboot, motherboard emits long beep at error code 2b, and posts no video. But cold boots fine?

FIXED! Thanks

Alright here's the steps to my problem:

1. Boot the system up normally (from a cold start it works fine)
2. Load into windows
3. Select the option to restart the system
4. System shuts down normally
5. System starts reboot process, but there's no video being displayed
6. Motherboard emits long beep, on my motherboard the beep occurs at code 2b, which according to a related thread on evga's forums indicates the system failed to initialize video
7. Motherboard finishes regular cycling through codes and says ff, still no video
7. Turn off computer and wait for approximately 1-3minutes
8. Push power button
9. System will boot normally, no errors, video displays as desired

I just don't get why it will boot from a "cold start" normally but rebooting the system causes a video display issue.

Things I've done:

I've tested this with 3 video cards and the same beep occurred on all three so I don't think it's a gpu problem.

I've also alternated between different combinations of the 6pin connectors (Mine has two 6 & two 6+2 pin connectors) with no change in the problem.

I'm uncertain about the psu being the problem, simply because it works fine under all other circumstances. It's not like my video cuts out during high demand gaming sessions or anything...it's been rock solid other than this reboot issue...

The motherboard is a used one I bought off a board member, and this wasn't an issue when I first installed the mobo...is it possible the mobo could create this sort of issue? The mods on evga seemed pretty certain it was a psu problem in the related thread.

The related thread evga suggested a bad power supply. I do have a backup power supply I can try out but I wanted to hear your thoughts on this before I tear my system apart (:

Anyone agree with the possibility it might be the psu? Any other thoughts?

I had a similar thing happen to me a few months ago. I got a new motherboard and its fixed now. If you have a friend with another mobo, try it out.

I have a newer spare mobo, so maybe I'll try that out. The PSU is only a couple of years old.
