The difference between msi 990fxa gd65 & gd65v2 ???

Can someone explain the difference between these two boards? they are about the same price just a couple dollar difference but the v2 takes almost a month to ship. I tried to find out online but no dice

I'd avoid both in general.

Get something else since they're both a little iffy for overclocking.

Also, the 990FXA-GD65 (or the GD80, can't recall) is the very first 8+2 phase board that's had a recorder VRM failure.

i think the reason they switched to v2 was to correct the that problem(correct me if I'm wrong but form by understanding the v2 releases are similar to when intel started re-releasing b3 editions of the p67 series? correct me if I am wrong and I think msi has many 8+2 phase mobo's

Yeah they do.

Though its more of a personal thing. The same thing happened when MSI released an "updated and improved" version of the 970A-G46, complete with heatsinks over the previous unsinked model. Hardly helped since we got news the very next day that it blew under an FX 8150 on stock. The 990 boards are generally better and you shouldn't face any trouble with them. I just don't trust MSI boards on the AMD platform personally. That's just me though redface.gif

Here are the two products maybe this will help, first
This is the MSI 990fxa GD65
http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=743637&CatId=7246

And This one is the msi 990fxa gd65v2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130650

The only thing I notice that's different is the cpu hsf mount;which on the gd65 goes all the way around rather than being just on the3 two sides like on the gd65v2

V1 has core unlocker and V2 don't. That is the difference.

V2 supports the Vishera CPUs. That is the difference.
Well i know for a fact the support for vishera is not the difference. My 890fxa-gd65 has been running a vishera 8350 OC to 4.4Ghz for months kicking ass with just a bios update.i cannot imagine the first 990 version would not support vishera when my old 890 does beautifully.
