Yeah they do.
Though its more of a personal thing. The same thing happened when MSI released an "updated and improved" version of the 970A-G46, complete with heatsinks over the previous unsinked model. Hardly helped since we got news the very next day that it blew under an FX 8150 on stock. The 990 boards are generally better and you shouldn't face any trouble with them. I just don't trust MSI boards on the AMD platform personally. That's just me though
