What game is it?
If it's something like a source based game, you are banned based on your username/steamid/credentials as opposed to your source address.

I was referring to the routers one.

Yep - tried it on my school computer with the same game and HSS - my IP changed just fine.. ***? So then it must be something wrong with my computer or router... weird..

Maximdymok,

Sorry for taking so long to reply been busy with work and life. If you went to another location and tried playing this game and you are still banned then it sounds like the "Admin" who has banned you from the server has used the admin addnamemask command in the game to block the namemask you use i.e. your characters name. Further more since you can not access it from your home network it sounds to me as if the "Admin" could also be using a wild card ban on your Ip Address. What this means is that hes blocking a large number of Ip Addresses you may be able to access from your ISP. For example say you have Ip Address 168.203.120.15 from your ISP. The admin could of used addipmask("168.203.*.*") effectively blocking you and everyone else with an ISP Ip address in this range. So then you would have to look at retrieving a new IP address from your ISP in the second octet, which may be a diffucult task if they have already been given out to other customers. You also would essentially have to start a new character on this server because of the namemask ban.

Not familiar with the original SS, but out of curiosity, how do you connect to servers and do match making? Are you playing the game through a service like steam?

Another possibility, similar to when Drierwor mentioned with the namemask banning, you may be getting banned by some sort of unique identifier like a steamid that changing your IP or even MAC address will not circumvent.

How weird.. A small update for anyone interested - I called Cox over cause my internet was really slow for some reason, and they told me to get a newer modem. So I did, which fixed the internet speed and.. Now proxies work! I dunno how, but the modem was the culprit. pinkfloyd1 - SS uses GameSpy to track server hosters, but no such thing as Steam to actually connect to them. It is just a direct connection from your game client to the server's. You can change your name easily in options, so there's really no way to ban that. As for the IP, I'm sure they can ban with wildcards, considering the admins banned most of Italy for a while because of some spammer xD. But then again HSS changes your IP so yeah. Now it works, and I can also use Proxifier. Figured out the admins banned me because of a misunderstading - they thought I was a wallhacker. Now that that's resolved, I can play with my real IP smile.gif Thanks guys biggrin.gif

If you got a new modem then it worked, the admin must have been banning your old modems MAC address.
