Question/Help: X58 - 990X + Dominator Platinums 2133/2400

Hi guys, i decided to buy a set of 16GB Dominator Platinum 2400 to replace my Dominator GT 2000.

My question is, that i run a G1 Assassin board that says it supports up to 2200 memory speeds + my CPU OC'd to 4.65Ghz, i thought of the 2400 as an investment that i could carry over to X79, because i know one day i'll convince myself that i need to have that X79 chipset

Should i swap my purchase over for a set of the same ram but in 2133?
Or should i try and get the 2200 supported speed out of the 2400s that haven't been posted yet to me.

I know i won't see real world gains here, i have got myself in a benching craze lately and just want to squeeze all i can out of my system smile.gif

I'm thinking if i swap to a 2133 set, i save 90 dollars. Plus 2133 has a 9-9-9-24 Latency
As opposed to the 9-10-9-27 i have with my 2000 GTs currently.

I'd keep your current sticks as is until or if you make the jump to another platform(x79?)

No sense running 4x4 sticks and running dual channel when your system is tri-channel. Also it's luck of the draw if the cpu's IMC can overclock to 2200+ speeds anyways, unlikely actually.

9,10,9 @2000MHz is not bad for x58 and you won't notice a difference in much of anything past that speed. I ran my GT 1866MHz hypers at 2000MHz 8,8,7,21 1T and it didn't help my benchies all that much compared to 1866MHz 7,7,7,20 1T. I just ran my UNCORE the highest I can stable to get memory speed I needed. Pretty much 3866MHz is where it topped out.

Ram prices will fall a bit more and better stuff will be available later when you do decide to upgrade. Besides, the ram you have now is pretty fast as is and look sweet doing it!

Well for some reason, i still don't get it but you can actually run 4 sticks on x58 in tri channel... It's legit.
But i was only gonna run 3 anyway at 12GB.

I've already made the buy on friday, but i can switch to the 2133 kit by tomorrow
Im just in love with the Dominator Platinums and their light bars, plus the 2133 kit runs at less voltage OC'd compared to my Dominator GT, thats a plus smile.gif

Thanks for your input smile.gif
