I'm of the mind to recommend a CPU upgrade to a dual core. If you go with C2D then the 965 chipset is recommended.

P.S. Yes, It is still okay to be proud of being a Veteran

So basically you are all in agreement that given the equipment I already have, instead of upgrading the CPU to a dual core AMD and changing to 2gb of RAM, going C2D with a new MB/CPU/RAM is going to be much much better?

The high end DDR RAM is rare and expensive, so reluctantly, eventhough you have a great 939 system, if you want/need the RAM upgrade it's time for you to move on.
