The Samsung Galaxy Nexus: Is it worth it, 10-11 months after release?

Hey guys!
I am seriously considering getting a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, 3G, 16GB, brand new, unlocked for $329 from a reputable store.
I am coming from an iPhone 3GS 32GB, which has lasted ages, and I have much experience with Android as most of my family have Android and I used to have a cheap Samsung Galaxy 5.
Is it worth it? Will a successor be coming out to the Nexus within 1 month? I am sick of being forced to JB my iPhone (you understand what I mean by "forced", right?), constantly having to circumvent Apple's security on iOS and iTunes.
I don't need 4G, as it is only twice as fast as current 3G networks here in Aus, and most of my data is on Wi-Fi.

Definitely. I just got my Nexus about a month ago and it's going strong. I rooted it, so I enjoy it even more. Get it!

I just bought an S3 to replace my GSM Nexus...

...and its going back most likely smile.gif I love my Nexus, Being completely honest, the S3 is a great phone, but the Nexus is better, it may not have the specs of the S3 but it just "works" better...

Could also flash a different rom, what you like most is probably the stock version of android that Nexus is running.

You can always root it and get some new ROM's going on it for a phone that lasts a lot longer.

It's an insane value at that price.

In my opinion the GSM version from the Play Store is the best. The LTE versions from the other carriers have awful battery life. Jb 4.1.1 is as smooth as iOS6. Google Now is a little bit of a gimmick like Suri is. And hey if you need directions to Safeway Google maps won't drive you off a cliff.

Well, Yeah thats an option, HOWEVER I primarily got the S3 because ATT rolled out LTE here... but as it turns out at my house an immediate surrounding area I do not get LTE..despite what the rep told me at the store when i specifically asked...

Well ok, let me be honest, I did get an LTE signal a few times but it tests out at about 5-6mbps, Or to put it another way, about the same as my Nexus and my mom's iPhone 4S, Yes, it says 4G LTE not just 4G.. and yes, that is an utterly embarassing speed...I was expecting at least 15mbps (I think thats perfectly reasonable, the one at the store was pulling down 23mbps..) The reception/signal strength "issue" i was having with the Nexus is persisting with the S3, Which leads me to believe its not that my Nexus "isnt optimized" for ATT's network, but in fact, ATTs coverage just kinda sucks here (And the iPhone has a great antenna apparently..)

So its going back, Because for $200 and extending my contract it has offered me pretty much nothing over the Nexus... or at least not $200 worth of improvements...

I think im going to go do a quick S3 vs Nexus comparison for you guys that are curious...
