what fan???

Thread Starter
So i'm ordering parts for my next build and wondering what fans would be best suited for my swiftech rads. On the site they recommend fans with rpm lower than 1200. Any advice would be greatlyu appreciated. I want something that won't make much noise and won't break the bank biggrin.gif I need 8 of them so can't really spend 20 bucks each smile.gif

This is the rad http://www.swiftech.com/mcrx20-qp-radiator-series.aspx

You don't pick fans by RPM or noise (nor LED color!).
You pick them based on how much air you need them to push
through your rad(s).

There are review/testing sites that evaluate rad performance based
on airflow. Have a look at Skineel Labs for example.

It's seems from you avatar pic that you don't mind proper colour co-ordination so I would pick out of those first couple of bitfenix led fans for 9.50

Ill have a look at the site, but i have to disagree, noise and looks are important, at least for the upcoming build smile.gif but still want well performing fans that aren't too expensive

I usually buy gentle typhoons. Quiet and are very effective, mine are hooked to fan controller as well

I wouldllook for a fan that can produce somewhere between 1.75 and 2.75mmHg static pressure if possible, as it isrreally the best indicator of radiator performance. Generally, 38mm thick fans produce 20-50% more pressure at a given speed than do equivalent 25mm thick fans.

The Swiftech Helix PWM fans are also a great choice, and Sidewinder has them for cheap. They will only run as fast as is necessar , and you canuse a PWM ssplitter to run all the fans off a single header but provide power directly from the PSU. They will then run at thesspeed dictated by the fan curve set in the BIOS. Around $10 per fan plus $5 for the splitter.

This is certainly subjective. I actually like what can be seen. If I didn't, I don't think I would make such a sarcastic remark to someone asking a legitimate question.

Haha, I wasn't being sacastic, I figured from his pic that he likes to have a rig with lights and colours and that he can show off, so i figured led fans would be good, also they are decent fans, especially for the price which is great because he said he couldn't spend more then $20 on each fan, if he could spend that kind of money, and he didn't want colour co-ordination, i wouldve recommended some noctua nf-p12's but they wouldn't suit his situation so i suggest the bitfenix instead
