Im pretty sure everyone thought of the movie the Core , but it was too lame to be worth mentioning.

How do they really think they can do this? Drillin aint Easy.

being in the ocean, will the Sea water be used to Naturally cool the drill? I have ot imagine the further down you go, water will be a completely pointless item to do this with.

And so what, you get to the Mantle, what could you possibly do with it? other than pootentially opening up a direct Volanic line to the sea Floor.

No matter how I look at this, it sounds disasterous. 1 Billion will become Multi Billion befor eyou know it as they have to replace the drill.. WHen they reach a Pocket of "something" that potentially forces an explosion, or again, possiblity of Magma just Flowing right on up the tube.

Pressure should be very strong that far. and you know what? I dont want to be here when they Tap that Keg

1 Billion is pretty cheap for something like this, too. When you factor in the equipment alone I'd have thought this would be much more than that. Pretty nifty! Hope we find something useful

But it is possible...

Alot of those plate that move due to convection and stuff, and the pressure from inside the core, if you release those pressure it is possible that earth can implode, crashed everything then explode once gravity is greater then the earth pressure just like the sunz

Mm dont think that would wok liek that tbh, graity isnt so strong that this would happen. Theres a reason why this only happens in stars

Obligatory mention that multiple billions are spent on the military every day. Learning, through science leads to discoveries that can improve quality of live.

Yep, thank you! there's multi billion dollar corporations which can feed and clothe every person on this planet, 2012 and almost hitting 2013 and there's still poverty, It's easily solvable but people are to indulged in evil and selfish behavior that they don't bother or care! (I'm talking about the rich people and million/billion dollar organizations.
When I saw the money involved in this mission I immediately thought about the poor people, but I see now they're too "insignificant"

Indeed as soon as I saw this I immediately thought disastrous, what are they going to try next reanimating creatures which have past on?
Honestly there's much more important things than committing acts like these which will pose a danger to the human race and damage even more of the planet, the last thing we need is another few islands caused by the leaking of magma to the surface and rising sea temperatures.

Your post is so ridiculous I'm not sure where to begin.

1.) It's not corporations' responsibility to feed the poor. Every person in a first-world country could just as easily give $10 and the problem would be "solved".

2.) You cannot just solve world hunger by throwing money at the problem. A lot of the issue is the government that "run" the countries involved. Money would be a good start though.

3.) Magma spews into the ocean all the time, it is insignificant in terms of rising the temperature in comparison to the massive amount of sun hitting the water.

4.) Drilling a 6km deep hole won't cause magma to come spewing out of it. There are plenty of other ways for magma to escape from under the crust, putting a very tiny hole there isn't going to cause some kind of geyser/volcano.
