Upgrade my mobo

Thread Starter
Ok i've gone as far as I can with the mobo in my sig (Abit AN8-Sli Fatal1ty) I want some options regarding an upgrade. What would pwn the Abit. DFI? Which one? Also is there any s939's out there with 2 16x PCIx lanes? (in case I go G80 before C2D?)

So what is the best overclockable/gaming mobo out there atm for s939? Experience and recommendations appreciated.

Really? Nobody? have I hit the nail on the head with DFI.

Also I have an opty 165 so I don't want to get limited by the FSB. What boards are known for getting a really high fsb?

Fatal1ty boards are exactly (pretty much) like the regular Abit boards, just with red LEDs, Fatal1ty logos and higher prices.

Anyways I hate to admit it but I think a DFI nF4 SLI-DR Expert Venus is the absolute best s939 board ever produced, but for SLI x16 you'd need an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe, more then capable enough of an overclocker and probably better than your Abit, more than makes up for any lack of overclockability with SLI x16 IMO (especially with dual G80s).

hmm... I know the G80's need at least 16x in one pcix lane to run, and 2 16x lanes to run sli. If I get the DFI would I be able to run at least one g80? Does it support full 16x in one lane? I probably wouldn't go G80 sli until a socket upgrade. I really want a rock solid mobo, with no vdroop, that I can rely on to be the last thing to fail when OC'in. My current fatal1ty is a little flaky imo.

Oh man this fatality crap Im glad you are getting rid of it (and Im also glad you know its the same thing but with red LEDs and a high price tag)

DFI is all that Ive heard for good SLi and opty OCing, however the ASUS A8N32-SLI will also get `er done, but with slightly less OCing capability, but dual 16x PCI-e slots, which you wont need unless you are going to SLi 8 series cards, and even then the real evidence to support dual x16 is quite vague.

The only way you find a "Venus" is on ebay if even that is possible. The "Expert" is the single best available retail 939 MB available for OCing. The SLI-DR kick some major can too though
