At UT Austin, there are a ton of people with Macs and iPhones. I would say about 20-30% have Macs ... possibly more. Austin is a VERY hipster kind of town. And there are around 55000 students at UT Austin.

In the Computer Science graduate program at my university (26k student population), Mac's actually outnumber the windows devices in the classroom, and have a strong presence in professor's offices and the labs. I use nothing but OS X in my research lab (Mac Pro lab machine and personal Macbook Pro Retina), my thesis committee professors all use OS X, the biology department we are working with extensively uses OS X, ect, ect.

OT
Google is definitely a powerhouse at this point but I put little stock in the "Market Cap" of a company. I do not think Microsoft is going anywhere, regardless of Win8. Enterprise runs on windows as do the vast majority of consumers. Obviously the mobile market is becoming more and more prevalent and I would bet that Miicrosoft is going to attack that market head on. Lets be honest, they still have a ridiculous amount of resources to back whatever venture they put forth.

I attend UT Arlington as well tongue.gif Hahaha and thats true.

In my business classes I'm maybe one of four people in classes of 60 that doesn't have an ifad, ifone, and/or acbook. Chewed out Apple in a finance class as being one of the greatest book great looking; reality bad/shady looking companies and I was looked at like I attacked the messiah. On my campus of 60k I'd expect only the tech related majors to be the ones that don't favor Apple by large margins.
On topic: I agree that market cap is not even close to the only thing that determines company value.

Haha! You were going to get mugged.

Very polar from my university. Apple's adaptation rate is higher among university students than the general population.
