GTX 580 RMA - MSI isn't answering or returning calls :(

Thread Starter
I submitted an RMA request for an MSI GTX 580 Lightning on the 12th, shipped it out the 13th, it arrived on the 17th or 18th. Got an email confirmation on the 21st saying the card was in processing/testing but haven't received an update since. I tried calling MSI on Thursday the 27th and Friday the 28th, left a message both times and haven't heard a thing back. I also wrote them an email last night an haven't heard anything back on that yet either.

I only want to know when they estimate a replacement or the repaired card will be sent out. It's been 10 days since the card was placed in the testing phase...seems like a long time.

Please, someone get back to me. I'm starting to think you're all on vacation.

I am having a similiar problem dealing with a MSI RMA.

I was issued a RMA on 9/5
I sent the card in and it was delivered on 9/11
on 9/18 I was told my card in the testing phase

and thats the last I've heard from them.

My card doesn't even need to be put into a motherboard and tested to see its faulty. A fan bearing in one of the TF2 fans died, it completely does not move and when you spin it with you're hand it has very little free movement, spin the other fan and it spins freely for 10-15seconds.

MSIalex pm'ed because I have a similiar thread in this section and I'm hoping i'll get some type of response.

@op Don't even bother calling, you will seriously become very frustrated fast. The cs rep's hardly speak english, when I spoke to one it took about 2 minutes just for him to get my email address correct (jam3s121@gmail.com) because I had to repeat myself about 3-5times. Also I have to ask him to repeat himself because hes not speaking clear english. Also after answering each question like, what was the rma#, whats you're address etc. It took about 3-5minutes between EACH question for him to then respond to be again, he would type for like a 30seconds and then not say anything.

Very disappointing RMA so far. In comparison it took me 11 days total to RMA my corsair ram from Connecticut to California. and the 3 phone calls i needed to make took about 5minutes each after waiting with me never having to repeat myself to people who can't hear. I'm not going to bash the guy for not understanding but if I need to repeat myself more than once on something I know i'm saying clearly you need to find people who can do their job. 99% of the people calling the RMA dept. aren't happy they need to RMA a product and they don't want to have second rate service for paying a premium price.

I understand the time frame, their website advertises a week or two to complete the process. I'm only frustrated that no one has contacted me after I've made three attempts to get ahold of them.

I've been calling the RMA line and not customer support. Hopefully Alex will get back to us with something regarding these problems.

Just wanted to update, I recieved a tracking number for a replacement/fixed card today.

I guess you just have to wait another week OP, kinda sucks it took them 3 weeks of testing to fix send out the replacement. I really like MSI video cards but I think I may look more closely for the best possible RMA service. When I built my rig I thought "nah nothing will happen." Ended up rmaing my ram, psu and video card over the course of a year and a half. All rma's went smoothly but the MSI took the longest sadly.

I think they're just getting back to work, I got this super informative email today -

"Dear customer,

We are still checking with RMA department and get back to you. Thanks!

Customer Service Group| Email: usrma@msi.com
MSI Computer Corp. | Tel: (626) 271-1004 press 2| Fax: (626) 581-1551
us.msi.com|www.msimobile.com| Facebook & Twitter|"

This experience will definitely affect my choice in the future. Luckily I've only ever had to RMA one other part, which was an XFX video card. They only had that for five days or so.
