Nevermind guys. I just wanted to know the affect of L2 cache on Source engine games. I didn't want to argue my reasoning behind my upgrade path.

Another benefit is that, without an internal heatsink, there is more vacant airspace within the case. This will help lower other temps even better.

Doesn't matter how I mount, the point is to keep heat output down. The only way to reduce heat output is underclock or get more efficient hardware.

CPU temp is fine, the ambient temp is not. My CPU doesn't get above 45C load on air at 3.7, but my room temp creeps up high from the heat dump. Unless I mount the radiator outside of the room, the heat is still going to make it into the air. Quicker than air cooling, actually.

CPU usage is 100% on both cores. GPU usage is under 40%. As I mentioned already in this thread, my 560SE is temporary. CS:GO only needs a GT210 to run., let alone a 560.

All I want to know is if the 1MB L2 cache from a "real" X2 would solve my bottleneck or if I'd have to upgrade to a X3. Guess I'll just buy the CPUs and figure it out on my own. An X3 WILL solve my bottleneck, but I want to know if I HAVE to get an extra core (less cores, lower ambient temps).
