The company getting caught cheating by running components out of spec in order to maximize the GPU boost feature is worrying, but I could still forgive them if they had apologized and said that something during QC failed and that they thought the cards would work, but then I read their answer:
We are currently not aware of any other vendor providing this same level of performance and we’ve worked with NVIDIA to ensure that new production models will limit this free overclock boost you currently get. Our new production models with normal GPU Boost function will be on sale next month.
This is the pinnacle of arrogance. I won't be buying a GPU from MSI any time soon.
They managed to write an apology by not writing an apology. "Oh yes, nobody else can match our performance.. but in the meantime we've worked with Nvidia in order to take away this FREE performance boost in the new production models."
Reason for doing it ? Apparently none.
I'll make mine the words of Tom's Hardware reader zero messiah:

On behalf of consumers everwhere, i would like to thank you MSI for trying to make us feel guilty.
And in the future, i will try not to feel entitled to having a working graphics card.
