HD 7770 Crossfire vs gtx 570

Thread Starter
Hi,

I currently have an EVGA gtx 570, and I was wondering if it was a good idea to get a pair of http://www.ncix.ca/products/index.php?sku=74900&vpn=GV-R777OC-1GD%20Rev2%2E0&manufacture=Gigabyte&promoid=1210 for $89.99 (after MIR) and then sell my gtx 570 for around $200 or so.

Motherboard: Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3 ATX LGA1155
Processor: Intel Core i5 2500K
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 8GB
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD Fermi
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA3 6GB/S 7200RPM 64MB Cache 3.5IN Dual Proc Hard Drive OEM
Power Supply: Corsair Builder Series CMPSU-600CXV2 600W ATX
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64BIT

I think i would jsut keep the 570. The 7770 corssfire are barely faster than the 570 and single card solution is always teh msot hassle free.

Take a look at this thread: http://www.overclock.net/t/1217069/gtx-570-or-2x-7770-updated

Negative on those cards. Although crossfire is fun to do, ultimately a single card solution is more stable in all games. I'd suggest going to a 7850 or 7870 if you can afford it. They are beast cards and overclock like crazy! You can find 7850's for under 200 bux now.

Wait for next gen, the 7850 falls short at a bit over 6950 performance levels, and although they do overclock quite good(I think they can go past a 7870), they aren't worth the cash if you've got a 570. The minimum upgrade from a 570 you could get IMO would be a 7870, I think they run a bit faster than a 580.

On average how much better is this card http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=69557&vpn=AX7870%202GBD5-2DH&manufacture=PowerColor&promoid=1210 than my current gtx 570?

HD 7950 OC is the best card to replace your GTX 570. best price perf. you don't want to buy a new card to get the same performance. HD 7950 at 1.15 Ghz will beat a GTX 580 or GTX 570 OC by 40%. Get a card with a good cooler like the Gigabyte HD 7950 OC.

7770's are not weak cards. They can be OCed to 6850-6870 levels which when put into CF would make it faster then a GTX670. Though The lack of memory and 128bit bus makes CF pointless on these cards.

My brother has a 7770GE @ 1300mhz and gets 17865 for the Graphics score for 3dmark vantage using the P setting. Card can take on a highly clocked GTX460 with ease. Card is a pretty decent low power card that can still pack a punch. Get a 7950 and call it a day.
