i7-3770k overclock

Thread Starter
Hey.

I got today my first i7 which is an i7-3770k and i wanna try to overclock it to atleast 4.5ghz?

The motherboard is Asus Sabertooth Z77 and the cooler is Noctua NH-D14.

Can you tell me what i have to change the settings to in the bios? And how should i add the thermal paste to the cpu to make the best out of the cooling?

Thanks in advance smile.gif

And in the 3dmark 11, is it normal to only get 60 fps at max during the gpu bench? (dual 680) (Evga and Gainward)

Set the Multi in Bios to x45, then set your Vcore (CPU Core Voltage) to 1.3v and boot into windows. Run Prime95 overnight to make sure its stable & watch the temps. If stable, go back into Bios & reduce the Vcore to 1.25v, test for stability & repeat until its no longer stable. Then go back into Bios and raise vcore by the last amount you reduced from it and you're set.

If using Extreme preset in 3Dmark11 & getting 60fps, that is just amazing. If in Performance mode then you could have Vsync on. Disable it in NV control panel & you're set.

I tested no as you said but with voltage on 1.25, 1,265, 1,275 but got only bluescreen and non responsive startups.

And i dont know what i have done wrong..

Do you have some good video tutorials for this?

Do you think that voltage on offset and 4.5ghz overclock will be a stable OC? cause when i tested with prime, the Oc showed that the voltage was 1.27 and was mostly kinda stable.

Cause manual voltage doesnt seem to work here, it's either bluescreen, windows loading freeze at the "loading windows screen or the loading just continue.

What do you mean by mostly kinda stable? It either is or it isn't...

Enable LLC if your voltages are dropping too much during stress tests.

Offset is much better (IMHO) than setting a fixed voltage since Offset lowers your core voltage based on load (i.e. lower vcore @ idle) which improves CPU life compared to Fixed vcore.
