and 1°C doesnt matter at all in 99,9% of cases.
The TS140 and Havik 140 are not too far behind either though and they are considerably cheaper.
If money is no issue then i'd get the Archon SB-E with 2x TY-141

You won't be able to fit anything in the first pcie now will you? Same thing with the Silver Arrow SB-e though...

the first pci-e slot is usually empty or - like in the case of the TS - a PCI-E 1x slot that doesnt get used, so on most boards there wont be a problem:

Thread Starter
Well, Im narrowed in. Macho or Havik 140. Noise, Clearance, and Performance!

The Havik has dual 3 pin fans, the Macho has a Single 4 pin PWM fan

With Asus fan Xpert fan controller I can control a 3 pin fan attached to the mobo does 4 pin pwm really matter? I dont want to hear any buzzing sounds because of incompatiability
post #35 of 44
Get the Havik.

The 3pin will work fine on a 4pin header.

The macho and true spirit are amazing budget coolers with quiet fans. The true spirit is almost as good as the archon and 1/2 the price.

I'd personally get whatever is cheaper - if you're in the US, it will most likely be the Macho. As for performance/noise, see this.

With Fan Xpert, you can also control 4-pin headers. If you notice with the z77 boards, a lot of vendors are only putting PWM headers and no 3-pins. PWM headers are the future. Luckily, 3-pin is compatible.

TS140 >>> Macho

Anyway, the Havik is the best actual heatsink out of all three, minus the fans. It's not only about PWM/NonPWM, the Thermalright TY-140 is just the best 140mm fan outthere for Heatsinks. All three are amazing coolers for the money though. You cant do nothing wrong with either one. thumb.gif

I assume the TY-140 and TY-141 perform the same. Am I wrong?

Have TY-140 and TY-143 (TY-140/141 on steroids) fans. I don't find any difference in the 700-1300rpm range, but the TY-143 keeps on going to 2500rpm.

Frozen CPU has TY-143 = $14.99. TY-140 = $12.99. TY-141 = $13.99

Performance PCS has TY-140/141/143 all $12.99

Yes, the TY-140 and TY-141 perform virtually the same. The TY-141 is a tad louder but has a smoother sound though.
