Looking really good. Quick question, I'm starting on my SM8 build and trying to mount one of those Silverstone filters on the bottom under the PSU mount. What screws did you get to work with that? The ones with the case and the fan don't seem to do the trick.

#6-32 x 3/8" & nuts I think. I always keep a bunch of small screws/nuts/washers around.

You know what, I may have used the regular fan screws that came with the filter.

Started on making up a new 24/18/10 pin for the Seasonic last night and the MDPC crimper took a dive on me. Apparently it's out of adjustment and I need to figure out how to set it right. Here is a pic Big Elf posted a while back as an illustration:

I made some adjustments to the crimper and it seems to be working OK, although I have to periodically adjust it.
Got 24 wires pinned, later I will start working on the double wires to solder.

Scrounged an old Corsair SSD mount and used it to mount SSD #3. The other two will be used in RAID 0, and a friend on the TT forum has modded the F14 BIOS with the newest Intel RAID ROM. TRIM will be functional in RAID.

Looking like my new 7950 will be here Monday from Newegg, and the backplate from EK has made it to Ohio from Slovenia so it might be here as well.

Another plan in the works is a platform for Merlin. The room is carpeted, and the machine being top heavy means it's not super stable. I may just fab up something to screw in place of the casters that is wider for more stability, rather than an actual platform. We'll see. If I can find some light but strong box tubing locally that would do it. Then I would put the casters on the ends of the tubing, since I need those.
I actually had to rearrange the room, space being at a premium here. This will keep my trusty Switch to my right with window in view, and Merlin to my left with window facing as well. My left surround speaker now resides on a stool so it can be moved into position since it would MOL be in the middle of the room with no place to mount it.

MOAR PICTURES OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN !!

what in the pure dee hell is MOL ???

and with a pedestal on bottom, how can your case be TOP-HEAVY ?!?!

so ... you and the bling getting along ? or is there "the morning after remorse" ? waiting to see the backplate.

Also, nice save on the corsair scavenge - its so rare these days to see the corsair parts in their proper context, i.e. le scavenge

Are you MOL intoxicated? More Or Less. wink.gif
Only thing I worked on today was the 24 pin. I sleeved all the cables but haven't put them in the connectors yet because the Seasonic has that 24/18/10 setup with 4 double wires. Fingers be sore.
I thought I would try sleeving all the cables first this time around. Last time I sleeved a Seasonic (which was the only time I ever sleeved a psu) it was a cluster****. It worked but wouldn't "jump start" so I could fill the loop. I eventually got it straightened out, but Seasonics are picky like that and I wanted to try inserting all the pins at one go while I'm looking at the original cable to prevent problems.

The case with the ped has a pretty high center of gravity because the "wheelbase" is pretty narrow, and on carpet that could be a problem. It will be sitting sort of in the middle of the room and I would hate to bump it in the middle of the night on a nature call and knock it over. I emailed Kevin at CL to find out if the platform for the STH10 would work for the SM8. If not I'll make something, won't be hard to do.

Remorse over getting the water block? Nope just waiting for the other 7950 and backplate. thumb.gif Be my first time watercooling a crossfire setup. I didn't have any problems putting the same block on my other card so I don't expect any problems with that.
When the card comes in I'll stick in the Switch to make sure it's not DOA and run it a little before I mount the block and put it in Merlin.

Maybe tomorrow I'll work on making a SATA power cable with those push down connectors.
