Yeah, everything is in limbo until I get this light panel done. redface.gif
If I had a piece of U channel long enough I would have made a 2-piece frame. As it is I made a 4 piece and for some reason I can't seem to read a rule today.....then I realized I can't drop in a full length piece without tearing off either the front or back so I made the frame 1/4" shorter.
Got 3 sides together (got to leave one side open for now to slide in acrylic) and it's in the shop with some screws in it and some epoxy drying. Shoulda picked up some JB Weld I guess. No one around here close with TIG welder and I'd rather take a butt whipping than try to weld low grade aluminum with a torch.
But the beat goes on....might stick the rads back in tonight if I don't conk out early.

Good morning,
I dont no how you made your panel but i can inmagin that if you put the panel on top you dont have to weld the frame just use double sited tape.
"just a thought"

Take a look at this.
Befor i can test the panel i need to purchase a ledstrip with controller.
And i think i might engrave my thick clear acrylic with my dremel.

Yes i cant stop.

Wish I had seen that detail earlier.

I went ahead and ordered one of the Acrylite Endlighten sheets that seanimus448 linked in his thread. He didn't actually try this, but it looks intriguing enough that I thought I would try this instead of an etched panel. Worked out to about $70 with shipping for a 8 3/8" x 21 3/8" sheet. That includes them polishing the edges.

So I guess I'll hold up on the frame until I get this sheet in and get a chance to experiment. I went a little smaller on the dimensions, since the edges are being polished I didn't want to take a chance that I might have to cut it and repolish it.
Probably what I'll do is just get some "L" channel, paint it and drop it in place to try to make this as painless as possible. I spent a lot of time on the U channel yesterday but like I said before, one of those days where everything I did was a pita. Sad, considering I used to work with metal for a living back in my 30's. wink.gif Of course the shop had better equipment than I do at home so I have to make do with what I have.

Meantime I'm experimenting with where I want to place everything. Since I'm eliminating the pedestal above the case I need a place for my storage drives. My first thought was to offload storage to my backup rig, but I might put the drives in the flexbay of the pedestal just below the case, since it bolts right up to a flex bay fan mount.
So, the top pedestal would have the drive cage and the RX240, and I might move one of the pumps there since I still have lots of room.
The 2xUT60 rads will stay in the bottom pedestal.

I will still have an abundance of cooling capacity, and I'm hoping I can still keep the fans running around 600-700rpm which is pretty quiet. In return I'll have a shorter loop and some increased flow so it's about a 50/50 tradeoff. If I end up having to raise the fan speeds a little I can go up to around 800rpm and still be whisper quiet.

As this is essentially a "refresh" where I'm looking at everything, I went ahead and order from Case Labs:
1 flexbay fan mount (since I'm shifting one to the pedestal for the drive cage)
1 flexbay short 3U mount (3 device mount for the 2x Aquaero's and FC8-should be neater and less hassle)
1 SSD mount (will be shifting some drives around and need more SSD space)

Also ordered the proper connector for hi density LED strip from Hitlights (thanks to cpachris for providing link!)

That's exactly what I'm doing with mine! I'm sure you'll be done with yours first however... I've got so many projects going at once around my house that I'm not very likely to be finished for at least a couple weeks.. still have the pedestal to deal with and I think I'm going to have to do yet another fittings order before things are ready for the light panel. rolleyes.gif

Then there's the backyard, home theater, etc., etc. whistle.gif

Maybe wink.gif I just finished one major home project....insulating and putting up ceiling/walls in my shop. But the garden is coming in so that means picking beans every day for a while....

I just got through bending some copper tubing to link my Aquaero water blocks....I decided to set up the flex bay up top as Aquaero > FC8 > Aquaero with the DVD burner somewhere down the line and two fans.
Trying to decide if I like the tubing link between Aquaero's better than the copper color Alpacool fittings......

Painted the FC8 & one of the Aquaero faceplates white, I got tired of the blue. Speaking of Aquaero I still haven't heard any more about my Pro being shipped back, hopefully soon so I don't have to tear everything back down on the flexbay after I install the the 3U bracket.
Right now still got the one Pro and the LT until the other Pro gets back from Germany.

Well, if your luck (and patience) is anything like mine... you'll get sick of waiting and not having it together, and you'll get confirmation on the shipment of the other Pro the day after it's all back together. redface.gif

Yep. I figure I might have my Case Labs stuff next Saturday or Monday, so I'm thinking it will get here before the Aquaero.

Meanwhile I repainted another Aquaero faceplate and my DVD player front white.
Seem to have run out of tubing to bend.
Another Lowes trip on the horizon. biggrin.gif
