I love the copper and blue together.
I love the blue and gold together.

I do not love the copper and gold together.

yeah....i'm definitely not hatin'. just opinin'. can i make a verb out of that? and i guess i'm far to old to know the "common" reference. smile.gif

I have the same issue with my board. The gold capacitor caps are beautiful.....unless you see them next to my copper accents. Fortunately...they don't show up very strongly.

Yeah....not really sure how to rectify the situation. I bought the board for price and features, not for how it looks. Unfortunately the only other choice I would have made is Asus which also went big on gold this year.
I could go back to chrome tubing........?
What to do?

____

Pretty much been in wiring hell. redface.gif
I have made a new SATA power harness for my drive cage, so that is done. Only had enough SATA sleeve to finish off two data cables but that's good enough until some additional sleeve I ordered gets here.
The back/side/whatever behind the motherboard tray looks like a freaking jungle of wires. Right now I'm thinking I just want to get everything connected so I can install Windows and drivers and make sure everything is working OK, then drop back and pretty everything up later.
Whew, sloooooow going so far.
Wish I could just plug in the drives and boot, I really hate installing Windows and everything from scratch!!! But ya gotta do what ya gotta do.....hope to get OS installed this weekend.
Trying to get all the pedestals wiring stuffed through that slot I made in the side is proving tough.....I may end up having to pull everything back apart and enlarge the hole before I can get all the data cables through...but I'll worry about that later. Maybe I should not have made the light panel the full length of the case....but what's done is done and if I can solve the wiring then it will be better in the long run.

When you get old like me , you can. smile.gif The down side is there are no more vacations and no overtime. mad.gifwink.gif Fixed income pretty much sucks...

OK I have some ideas on dealing with the color clash. Right now I'm chewing on the idea of covering the gold with something. If anyone has some ideas please throw them out.
Meanwhile I will concentrate on getting the system up soon in between "chores"...I'm still cleaning up after Andrea.....!

Is the gold plastic or aluminum? Can the gold pieces be removed for painting or carbon wrap? I like the copper tubing so much I'd hate to see that go. But chrome tubing would look nice also.

Carbon wrap is what I was thinking. Not sure, but my guess would be the heatsinks are plastic.

Nice.

It has been a very busy weekend. Somehow installing Windows managed to freeze up my SSD's.....took me quite a while but I finally got it going. Still have one SSD I need to erase with Parted Magic before I can use it. I ran into this same thing last year where I had a rough time installing Windows to SSD's that had already been in use....it was pretty strange and left me shaking my head. Even Samsungs own utilities won't secure erase the SSD's when they "freeze".
Lot's of time spent just reinstalling wiring. You would think the little bit of rearranging I did wouldn't cause all that. I am still reinstalling programs as well, good grief I can't believe how long it takes to install just Windows updates now!
The light panel is working well. It's pretty bright when cranked up all the way.
I pulled out the FC8 because it started acting weird and swapped in a FC9 after I painted the faceplate white.

Haven't tried any overclocking yet. I need to check this out some more, there's a lot more adjustments than Sandy and Ivy have, and uncore is back. Happy to see Gigabyte finally made a nice looking BIOS...not that I've spent any time in the new one, all my quick ventures into the BIOS to set boot order, etc have been through the "old" interface, things are easier to find for now. smile.gif

I know I hate having to reinstall windows plus all the programs you need and as soon as you say I don't need this one anymore then you do need it. Like you said Win 7 updates take about 4 to 6 hours total I think... crazy .... well good luck with your overclocking from what I read you are not going to get much by over clocking but you never know I know I like to try and experience it myself so I know 100% for sure and in a way I can understand it...
