"Rebuild" parts for the pedestal have shipped. thumb.gif Now have the old pedestal removed and ready for surgery.
Also pulled the radiators and fans..... One thing that worries me is the stickers on the AP15's. I don't think I'm going to be able to salvage them. I've already managed to muck up a few.
Which makes me wonder if there will be problems running the fans until I can get some more made? These fans don't have the little plastic insert that so many others do.
Only interim solution I can think of is just put a little patch of tape on them until I can get them stickered.
What do you guys think?
Anyone offering a custom sticker for sale service, lol.

Thank you, Darlene. I went ahead and ordered the vinyl decal paper, laminate sheets and a 1 1/2" circle cutter from Ebay. I was hoping I could find what I needed locally, (my wife works in a larger town 40 miles away) but she didn't have time to shop for me. So I just ordered everything online to save a hassle and to promote family harmony. wink.gif

Now I need to see if I can find my way around Inkscape and come up with a design.

Will start fan disassembly today and get the frames and blades ready for painting.

Probably nothing complicated. I thought about just "Merlin" in blue type, maybe I can get more creative or find some graphics to copy. The only vector graphics program I've used was a little in Sketchup and I'm not real good at it. Like I said I found a freebie called Inkscape but haven't tried it yet, been busy painting fans.
Got 8 fan blades/frames painted today. 13 to go. The finish on the frames is not coming out as smooth as I'd like though. Don't know if it has anything to do with the flat white paint or what. The metallic blue blades look great.
I noticed the white sleeving on the rad fans is dulled from dust, that is a bit of a downer and I might redo them in b magic if I have enough.

Hmm....I don't like the white tubing. I think you should go for clear tubing and have a nice liquid running in there. Most great rigs I've seen don't use opaque tubing as it takes away from the looks.

Guess I won't have a great rig then.

Ha! You crack me up. I'm using some white tubing also. Will have a mix of clear and white I think. Aesthetics should be about what pleases you....not others. Keep doing what your're doing.

Remember his Switch 810 build ? You could say that the white tubing is a part of his sig build wink.gif

Thanks for bringing some positive vibes guys.

Tearing apart the AP15's for painting was interesting. I've taken fans apart before, but the quality of these fans is above what I've seen previously. Dual ball bearings and decent looking windings on the motor.
Happy to say that the "bag method" of disassembly has worked well so far and I haven't lost any little clips....yet. I just used a gallon ziploc and stick the fan inside while removing the retaining clips. I know for sure that saved a few from being lost. So tiny.....if one ever hit the carpet it would be history. I'm used to seeing the little plastic clips so was surprised to see these metal ones. Here's a normal fan screw for comparison.

Throughout the next few days I'll be working on the fans and trying to get the painting finished. Before next weekend I hope the new pedestal parts arrive and I will just leave the rig down until then and tinker. Still thinking on what I want to do with that one flow meter, I want to see the flow after the rads/cpu/gpu's, not necessarily concerned about the AQ5 block as it's at the very end of the loop. Where I moved it fits that bill but not keen on the looks. If I could mount it more securely instead of dangling? Not sure yet. I thought about hard plumbing it off the gpu's but didn't have the correct fittings.

Might have to lightly sand these fan frames and switch to gloss paint. The flat paint has a gritty texture, hard to describe. I do have some Krylon fusion and I think I'll give that a try.
