Problems with opening programs after a fresh start-up

Thread Starter
each day when turning my computer on in the morning, after being off for about 8-10 hours, it will start up normally and everything on the taskbar and notification area load up fine (everything i have set to run at startup (basic stuff + antivirus/antispyware+virtu mvp). 95% of the time after everything is loaded up, i'll often actually sit down like 10 mins after everything is started up and try to open mozilla or any program for that matter and it wont open. it shows the loading thing where the pointer is and a box around the icon on the taskbar, but then never opens. i'll try ctrl+alt+delete and ctrl+shift+escape and they wont work either. i try going through start menu to restart and i'll click restart. like 5 minutes later it actually begins restarting but never does - taskbar disappears and just blank screen with my wallpaper.

im stuck pressing and holding the power button to restart the computer and then im prompted to start windows normally (i do). everything loads up very fast and i can open any program immediately. this has been happening for about 2 weeks, same thing every single morning happens.

ive disabled intel rapid start and any hard drive performance stuff in my bios. ive run chkdsk and everything is fine. i scan registry for errors (with ccleaner) and everything is fine. hdd isnt fragmented at all. ive run windows start up repair a few times and always comes back without errors. today i ran it and it said whatever i had connected via usb i had to disconnect (nothing was connected). ran it again and then no problems. it has to be software related or windows related with startup. i never get BSOD or any errors. through ccleaner ive gone to startup and deleted any programs not necessary. im lost but its super annoying every single day it takes about 20 minutes before i can actually do anything! here are some screen shots from chkdsk, registry scan, start up repair etc. any input would be greatly appreciated.

--i cannot reinstall a fresh install of windows, i currently dont have an external to back up all my files onto. Thanks guys!!!!

Yes, it must be software/win related. Try disabling most if not all these programs from running at start-up. Sounds like you may have one program not playing nice. No need to have many of these utilities running upon boot-up anyways.

here is list of start up items. its basically barebone aside from XFAST USB, ATI CC, CORE TEMP, ANTIVIRUS, ANTISPYWARE, THX SOUND, APPLE, JAVA, ADOBE.

the 2 intel items in the scheduled tasks SS may or may not be an authenticator of sorts thumb.gif (judging by reading the program location)
^^^ has not given me an issue since may, until about 2 weeks ago.

The one thing I noticed from your screenshots is that you're running Avast and Ad-Aware Antivirus at the same time. That could be the cause of your problem.

i think the name includes "anti-virus" but its just anti-spyware im pretty sure i didnt use the antivirus part. i just uninstalled it though and removed from start-up. i pretty much use malware bytes most of the time anyway. I also just removed XFAST USB since i dont have an external anymore.

ive tried googling for fixes but any input still appreciated. i cant retsart now to see whats going on (working) but usually has a good normal start up anyway if i had the computer on pretty recently. it just seems like when i have the computer off over night. thats why i originally thought it was the intel rapid start thing (trying to mimic ssd and starting up immediately) but it persisted after i removed intel RST. thanks again, in advanced.

Okay, I see. Thats quite an interesting problem you have. In fact, I just remembered something.. go into Avast settings, and look for Advanced->"Rootkit scan on startup" and disable that. If that doesn't help, Gunderman456's advice is sound, disable ALL startup items and see if theres any change. If that doesn't help, I would uninstall Avast completely and see if it solves the problem.
