New Build to Replace My Budget

Thread Starter
I was wondering if the people of overclock.net could critique the parts I picked out.

I have currently have the i5-3750k and Z77 Sabertooth waiting in their boxes to find a home, so here are the parts I have picked out:

MotherBoard - ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU - Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz

Update, just pulled the trigger on:

Video Card - MSI N660 Ti PE 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16

Power Supply - CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX750 (CMPSU-750AX) 750W ATX12V v2.31 / EPS12V v2.92 80P Modular

HardDrive - Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD2 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Case - Corsair C70 Military Green

Ram - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

Cooling - Corsair H100

Total: $932.75 after promotions

Less than I was expecting for a decent beast computer, but I don't really want to spend more than $1100.

My budget build started as AMD/AMD but I have always been partial to Nvidia because I have had better experiences with them. Currently my budget build is at AMD/Nvidia so I'm ready for an Intel/Nvidia build, and this is what I came up with.

Note: I will be yanking the 7200 Samsung 1 TB from my budget computer as well as the GTX 460 to use solely as a PhysX card to put in this new build.

This will also be my first watercooling experience because I want to try something different from air.

Any feedback would be appreciated,

thanks!

Hope you guys like it! Build log to follow

first if you don't mind going to the red side this is a great deal http://www.overclock.net/t/1312199/xfx-double-d-radeon-hd-7950-269-99-ar-newegg#post_18282012
I know your going to use that 460 as phyxX but why when only a handful of games use it(and they mostly suck)
Two ssd in raid 0 is useless as your randoms same the same only the Sequential increase
that cosair case is butt ugly
anything else looks good

No point critiquing the parts if you've already pulled the trigger....? tongue.gif

A 500 or 550 watt PSU would do the trick.

Newegg has the Rosewill Capstone 550-M on sale for 79.99 shipped right now.

  • Drop the PSU down like stated by another member and upgrade to a GTX 670 or a 7950
  • Change your RAM to the Samsung Wonder RAM
  • 128GB SSD and a 2TB HDD is better for storage. 256GB SSD is useless, use an application like steam mover(works on non-steam games) to move your games to your hard drive when they are not in use. No need to keep all of those games on there that you already played. The SSD is not being used any different than a HDD then.... I have a 256GB SSD, I never go near half.
  • A H80 is a litle less than the H100 right now and they will perform very close to the same, ~2C difference.

Just notice the OP "just pulled the triiger"

Sad to see such a good budget and only a 660Ti in there.... doh.gif
