GameCube to a PC monitor

Thread Starter
Hey,

I was thinking that I would hook up my old GameCube to my PC monitor and play some good old games. But there's a bit of a problem I was going to buy one of these http://www.google.com/search?tbm=shop&q=S-video+to+VGA&tbs=p_ord:p but then a question popped up in my head. How would I get the audio to work I don't have any build in speaker in my LCD screen? Any one could help me out a bit with this?

Regards,
Mizo

If you have a receiver from a home theater you could use that, otherwise I think you may be out of luck, but I'm no expert either. You for sure though will need some sort of independent sound system, anything that has audio jacks and a way to control volume should work.

I'm pretty sure that adapter won't work well (if at all) anyways for the video signal at least, you could still get the audio working by using a RCA -> 3.5mm adapter for headphones or computer speakers.

This is what I use for my Gamecube: http://www.mygica.com/product.asp?id=134

You need something like this.

http://sewelldirect.com/Composite-RCA-to-VGA-Converter.asp?gclid=CNy6t52j47ICFWjhQgodqUYAag

The signal has to be converted and I heard there can be a bit of a delay on some of these devices.

He'd still have to figure out something for hooking the audio up versus going through a USB solution. But yes, he'll need an actual video converter, not an adapter.

Which isn't too bad. Like you already said you will just need an RCA to 3.5mm female adapter. Plug your headphones or speakers through it.

Well about that product it looks promising but I have no idea how much does it actually cost and isn't this like a video recording thing?

I got mine at Fry's for $30-$40, can't remember. Yes, it's essentially a USB capture card but it doesn't automatically record everything.
