Thread Starter
I have a HP with Windows 7, AMD Phenim II x2 3.5GHz dual core cpu, 8 gigs 1333 DDR3 ram, 600 watt power supply. I got a GTX 260 maxcore 55 for $47 and its not got here yet but i need to know if my cpu will be able to work well with the 260. I got it to play Guildwars 2. Right now im using a Nvidia GTS 250 512 mb DDR3 and with setting on high im only getting about 20 fps. I hope that my cpu with be able to run with the GTX 260 216 maxcore 55 and i wont need to upgrade yet. I am upgrading to a AMD Phenom II x4 3.2GHz quad core. Till i can aford to get the 3.5 6 core i want.

It'll run, but you're not going to see a huge improvement over your GTS 250. Not a worthwhile upgrade IMHO.

Hey,

What your main issue is the fact of your CPU isn't overclocked. Guildwars 2 is more CPU intensive because of constant fast rendering and tons of players (Just like WOW). Overclock your CPU to 4Ghz or a little more, and then the GTX 260 would be a worth-while improvement. Next time, think about getting a better CPU first, because buying a better GPU isn't always going to fix a low FPS issue.

Even if he overclocked his CPU, it still wouldn't have been worth nearly $50 to upgrade to a GTX 260. confused.gif
The money would have been much better spent towards -just- a new CPU.
