[Softpedia] AMD Demonstrates Fanless A10-5700K Trinity System - Page 4

Is the A10-5700K something new because all I've heard about is the locked multiplier A10-5700? From a price stand point the A10-5700 isn't that impressive since it cost the same as the A10-5800K, which you could underclock and undervolting giving the same result but also leaving the option to OC open. This does look insanely awesome with a fabless Trinity system. Though I think the TDP spec of 65W and 100W are often misleading as the real would difference is much smaller.

I absolutely fell in love with the spec of the A10-5700 APU and now that I'm seeing it in such a situation I am contemplating a mass-buy of A10-5700s to renew the house/office PCs thumbsupsmiley.png it's not really a release article anyway so it falls outside of the scope of the roundup. The A10-5700 is a full FX-4100 class 4-core (2 module) CPU combined with a Radeon HD 7660G (i.e. standalone 6570) crapped into an amazing 65W TDP. It appears that this one is also unlocked and was not part of the initial release. What else is awesome is that this is ALL running off a Pico PSU.
What is a Pico Psu? Whats the diff between a Pico Psu and a Normal Psu?
It is a super small PSU that stems from the 24-pin power connector and doesn't take much room beyond that. It has an external power brick like a laptop. It is the smallest PSU for the desktop form factor that I am aware of.

Looks like AMD is heading in the right direction this time! thumb.gif

That's kinda scarey, this lil apu is as powerful as the phenom and has on chip video. Nevermind the fact it's a quad running at high speeds.

The Trinity APU also uses half the power... and that's WITH a decent GPU on the chip as well.

That's the scary part.

That's awesome. They should have started making cases like thees a long time ago. Now they need to fit it with a more flexible mounting system so that you can drop any CPU mobo combo in it. Adding a second mount for a discrete graphics card would be a nice addition to. Fully passive computing for the win thumb.gif

And for those complaining about price. Yes its expensive. Perhaps a little to expensive but it's not made for budget builds. Its made for thous that are looking for a truly 100% dead silent computer. I bet audiophiles would love one of thees as a HTPC.

I would say not because AMD is producing the Athlon II x4 700(k) series that will run in the FM2 socket. I guess we would call them the "Athlon III" biggrin.gif

So, what everyone is saying... is that both do benches exceptionally well. More-so than most homeowner's would ever do (average), but the AMD offers much moAr standardization and effeciency..?

Then modify your PC. I use my overclocked Intel on passive, and it works.
