Question about intel TAT

Thread Starter
Well I just got a new 680i motherboard and when I overclock TAT is saying 45C but in Bios it is reading 37C. Could I have a bad install of TAT? I can't believe the degrees would be off this bad? Even at default settings the temps are 5 to 7c difference. Any ideas?

someone can correct me if i'm wrong but I think that TAT is giving you the core temp and Bios will give you CPU temp.

Well looks like I might have found one problem. The 680i auto set the voltage to 1.46 when I overclocked it and I turned it down to 1.325 and it is running alot cooler. But TAT and NTune still don't match. Ntune came with the motherboard and it is reading temp at 37C and TAT reads it at 40C.

Correct.

The core temp is different from your CPU temp.

C2D is based on Pentium M. that could be the reason.

It is possible that the two cores aren't having the same temps. After all, no part is like the other.

and if you only have 3c of a difference between TAT(core temp) and other programs(sensor temp), then consider yourself lucky!

i'm not sure about the incorrect processor showing, but i get a variation of 1-2 degrees on the 2 cores, it's normal.
