EDIT: Oh and also, I have the voltage at the corsairs normal 1.65V so its a bit more than the SpeckTeks 1.5 so maybe thats whats allowing it to go at 1600Mhz stable. I'll prime95 sometime.

 

I assume that if CPU-Z's memory tab shows 800 MHz, then all of the sticks must be at 1600 MHz.  However, since you have generic memory, there's no way to know how long it will last or even if it's truly stable.  Having unstable memory presents the greatest risk of data corruption, so it's not something to be taken lightly - especially if you access or create irreplaceable files on a regular basis.

If you're concerned about how it sounds to say your memory is at 1333 MHz, then I say that you're kind of missing the point.  It's a matter of stability vs. what others think.  What's more important?  If you were to ask me, then I'd say that the stability is more important - no question.  Besides, it never matters what others think of you or any of your possessions.  All that matters is how you feel about it:  are you happiest when everything you own is stable and is in perfect working order?  Or are you happier when other people are impressed by it even if it's not quite working perfectly all the time?

 

I'm sorry to be harsh, but it pains me to see anyone being unhappy with their systems for silly reasons.  There's never a good reason to sacrifice stability.  Going further, if 1.65V proves to be dangerous for your generic memory (I will assume that is - does it even have heatspreaders?), then I'll also say that there are never good reasons to sacrifice your stuff like that - even if it's not an immediate sacrifice, but instead one that takes place down the road somewhere.

I see what you mean. I agree, its not stability vs. pride. If its unstable I'll leave it to 1333Mhz but I will first try my absolute best to get it stable at 1600. I push all of my stuff to the limit (unless im lazy), its how I am. For now I'm lazy and will leave the ram at 1333 but I'll try for a nice stable 1600 later.

1333Mhz isn't "weak", it'll run perfectly fine and suit your needs.

It could always be worse... 1066Mhz... biggrin.gif

Alright, but just remember that unstable memory presents the greatest risk of data corruption.  At least, this is what I've learned during my time here on OCN - I haven't had the misfortune yet of experiencing this myself, but that's because I have been careful thanks to what I learned.

Weird thing was while on 1600MHz it BSOD's randomly. Booted fine, then everything in Black Ops froze, it CTRL ALT DEL everything started again but my gpu usage went to 99%, cpu down to like less than 10%, gpu temps were lower than idle temps, 20FPS. I thought at first my graphics card finally died but I rebooted it and it was fine except it did a checkdisk on boot..........

I'd say that this means the generic memory is very unstable at 1600 MHz and needs to be at 1333 MHz and 1.5V.  I mean, just look at all of the problems that have already occurred here.
