Dedicated to the memory of Adam Wilson, aka "Erakith" RIP 10-16-12

Welcome to my build log!

This project is the culmination of months of planning and dreaming. It all started with the announcement of the release of Crysis3, and me realizing I wouldn't have enough GPU to get the job done. One thing led to another and here I am with basically all new parts and a fantastically massive case to mod.

Grey
Pearl White (possibly)

) Paracord sleeved wiring.

Now originally I was intending to wait for the new version of the NZXT Phantom to come out. But I got sick of the waiting game, heard some things I would rather not repeat and I started shopping around. After literally looking at every full sized case on the market I settled on the Enermax Fulmo GT. There were several factors involved in my decision making. 1) It's enormous. I can not stress this enough. I believe you could fit many other cases inside it. 2) There isn't really a lot of extra crap to feel bad about hacking off etc., basically it's a modder's dream. 3) As a plus to me I couldn't find a single person who has really modded this case. That's kinda fun for me! 4)Finally it's a great price at just over $200 it's a lot of case for the money. Of course it has many many fine features that a normal person would be interested in hearing about, but I could care less!

So I'm actually a few days into it as of writing it. I wanted to get some work done and pictures taken before teasing everyone.

Also I should mention I took this as the perfect excuse to make myself a little mod shop. I got a bandsaw, jigsaw, file sets, titanium drill bits, and loads of other stuff. I can now work with metal/acrylic/wood if I wanted to. So feel free to throw out any ideas you may have. I can basically fab anything I need.

The back. I really dislike the stock cables. Some color coordination please?
P1020681.jpg

I/O and expansion slots. This case is built to handle dual power supplies stock!

Let the modding begin!
P1020692.jpg

P1020697.jpg

Lots and lots of rivets on this one. Not a problem for me, but for some this is no good.
P1020699.jpg

Gotta get at those ones...

Thank you, and yes of course! That mesh is horrible isn't it? I do love though if you wanted and looks weren't a thing to you, you can put 4 180mm fans on the door. That's pretty epic.

Very interesting.

Just a friendly suggestion... just post your new updates when you post them. Don't worry about going back and editing old post because it takes readers longer to get them. What you could do is make a list of updates with links to the post number at the beginning of the thread.

Yeah I was thinking that myself...

Update 2!

Lot's of boring work in this one. Suprisingly this stuff took a long time to get done right.

Modified 5.25 bay
P1020709.jpg

P1020708.jpg

22Ga Sheet metal
P1020711.jpg

Bottom cut made.
P1020713.jpg

Test fitting, looks good. I had to cut this piece twice, the first time it was too big because I forgot it had to get through the opening.
P1020718.jpg

Tracing out the CPU cut out.
P1020720.jpg

Looks good and test fit perfectly.
P1020722.jpg

P1020726.jpg

Next I had to remove two pieces of steel. One being the top PSU support, the other this strip that was bent out at the edge of the old HDD cage.
The PSU support was not problem. The other long strip was such a pain. Ran out of dremel cut off disks rather quickly and had to use my Skill saw which totally sucked. Good thing this cut will be hidden!

Finally I have the back panel and a piece of L aluminum temporarily installed. Really starting to be able to see how it will come together!

Update 3

I decided tonight to fab the whole case together, then once I have it perfect I will take it apart to paint.

I did a test of the grey I want to use, let me know what you think.
P1020710.jpg

I do have to apologize. I forgot to really take photos of the process while I was building tonight.
mad.gif
But you can see what I did. I cut another piece of the angle aluminum for the front support. Then I measured out the mid plate and cut it out of acrylic. And then drilled holes in the acrylic and the supports.

P1020733.jpg

P1020734.jpg

While I was test fitting the 5.25 box I decided I needed it a little shorter. So I cut both sides again, drilled holes and attached with rivets. I also have decided to use rivets for everything I can. They are just too easy! Anyone know where custom colored rivets can be found though?

Well black for sure. What do guys think, green and grey as well? Idk, maybe not. I am also throwing around the idea of painting the little figure on the heatsink gold and then maybe gold rivets? I'm open to ideas.

Update 4

I've gotten a lot work done over the past few days, just haven't had time to post anything, so here goes.

Fedex delivers on Saturday? Who knew, but they brought me a heavy box with two gifts inside! Pair of Alphacool NexXos UT60 420's.

P1020743.jpg

These rads are really nice with 6 ports for and a bleeder/fill port on the other end.

P1020746.jpg

P1020747.jpg

P1020748.jpg

The come with full copper hardware for 6 fans and all the ports each. I really want to use this stuff, but what do you guys think? Will it ruin the build theme?
P1020750.jpg

P1020751.jpg

This same day I tore the Giant down, sanded off the rust from the steel and started painting.
