Yeah... it'd really help if you could decide on preferences in regards to size, layout, and features. If none of that matters, your best bet for a quality starter board at a great price is a CM QF Rapid when on sale.

This. I got mine for 69 bucks shipped for the cherry brown switches, ive seen cherry blues go for as low as 49 bucks and blacks for 59 bucks. Its a steal and quality of this board is pretty damn good.

honestly my azio mech 5 is awesome for the money .. every azio keyboard ive owned has been top notch so prehaps give them a fluke this tiem and if it happens again go with a different brand,,,
the removable numpad is awesome for me cause i can take it to work and use it there without neutering my keyboard at home..it also makes an ok game pad for my laptop..just apply my key mapping profile and zooooom im off
the second overhead macro pad is much less use full but head crap happens i remove it most of the time and it looks just fine solid blacks and a nice volume know and built in hub make it the most feature rich unique mechanical out there
and hey it got the linus seal of approval so that says something for it
not to mention that nice braided cable

The CM Boards are awesome, I own a Trigger and I regret nothing about it. If you want a lower price, go with the QF Rapid, great board as well. Or you can wait for the upcoming TK, which is like a backlit version of the QF Rapid.

The QuickFire TK is from a different OEM though. Hopefully the quality is comparable to the QF Rapid.

I'm not a keyboard guru but am very picky and love my cooler master quick fire rapid. I went with blues but they have a few options now. If you don't want a 10keyless (which I love) their other boards still seem good, messed with them at a local Fry's.

Does OEM really matter? There is very little difference between the two OEMs IMHO. The TK will not be made by costar or ione, its some new OEM.

It can make a big difference: look at the QF Pro and its reputation, compare it to the Trigger or QF Rapid.
