No Fans?!? You Have to be KIDDING me!

Thread Starter
We know that a PC can turn into a noisy, obnoxious air blowing freak. They're filled with fans, usually a ton of fans so your computer will be nice and cool inside. Yes, We know, Loud, Dusty, A pain to replace.

So to get round these problems, NoFan has created a fan less system. What???? No Fans?!? You Have to be KIDDING me!

What is it you may ask? It is a Passive cooling system. Most current generation air coolers contain a passive cooler with a fan attached to disperse the heat. Not here, the NoFan system works by using a thermal liquid to disperse thermal energy. Liquid absorbs heat at the source, evaporates, and the wick guides it away to a cooler area, where it liquefies once more, dispersing the heat from the source. Techno Nerd Chic Right?

Well I was like, OK No fans... What else ya got, They told me they had PSU's and whole cases! Seriously, now I'm scared.

Here are the Pluses of the NoFan system, and some use full links to look at the neat stuff (*hint*)

It is a Noise Free System
- A noisy fan can cause discomfort and irritation while using the computer.
- NOFAN shows what a pleasure using the computer can be without vibration.
- Big fan generates noise with vibration while NOFAN enables you to be free from any vibration.

It is a Dust Free System

- Free yourself from the hassle of having to clean your computer.
- Microbes in dust can cause or aggravate asthma and other respiratory diseases.
- NOFAN prevents your computer from malfunction due to high CPU temperature caused by layers of insulating dust.

NOFAN systems never collects dust.

A lot of dust is collected in a normal computer.
It is a Maintenance Free System

- NOFAN keeps your PC clean for a lifetime.
- Eliminates the hassle of cleaning and replacing the cooling fan.

This FAN, I mean NoFan Fan, I mean..... Passive cooling system... Whew! Look they are in COOL metal colors...

NoFan CR-95C IcePipe Fan less CPU Cooler - Pearl Black

NoFan CR-95C IcePipe Fan less CPU Cooler - Copper

So I was like I have to see these cases, NO FANS IN A CASE!

NoFan CS-60 mATX Quiet Computer Case

NoFan CS-70 mATX Fan less Computer Case

NoFan CS-80 ATX Quiet Computer Case

Now this is freaky to me.... I PSU that is SILENT, I mean No Fans.... Really!

NoFan P-400A Fan less Silent Power Supply 400W - 71980

So tell me what do you think of these No Fans!?!?!

It's not really a new thing, well maybe the PSU, never experienced one of them, but I run a passive cooled rig.

The liquid cooling thingie they are describing is just how a copper tube in a normal heat sink works. It is not a new technology nor a state of the art one, just simple thermodynamics of evaporation and condensation. One end evaporates the liquid and it condenses at the other end.

I think they are cool, but limited in their use. There is a reason every decent cooler uses fans, it is because they are necessary for anything but the most low end components.

Good if you live in an iglo I guess though smile.gif

Well, I do live in Canada... Maybe that counts as an igloo?! rolleyes.gif

As he said, the products aren't really innovative in their inner nature but what about the performance? Maybe the performance actually is revolutionary?

Hmmmm yeah maybe the performance is revolutionary, or maybe they are just liars.. I would go with the latter personally.

Nothing about it is revolutionary other than the fact that they are trying to market a product that exists already under different marketing. You could just buy a bigger better heatsink and not put the fans on it.
It would cool better because it was bigger and would be cheaper. I'm not saying it's all rubbish though, I think they have been innovative in making an entire system fan free especially the PSU.

The performance won't be great in my honest experience and opinion. It may be good performance for fanless compared to other fanless heatsinks but compared with the norm which is fans on a heatsink or radiator it is certainly and unequivocally not revolutionary in terms of performance.

Fans offer varying degrees of cooling and can idle when only passive cooling is needed and run at max when maximum cooling is needed. whereas a passive cooler has no margin for error or leeway in terms of if the component starts to get too hot; it can do nothing until it overheats and the system has to shut down.

The NoFan CS-60 looks like a rebranded In-Win Dragon Slayer, while the NoFan CS-70 looks like a rebranded Silverstone FT-03. The NoFan CS-80 is also probably a rebranded InWin BUC. That's just pathetic.

Certainly not the cases. They are rebranded from InWin and Silverstone and sold at a higher price. All NoFan does to them is take the fans out of the cases and sells them as their own. Example: NoFan CS-80 looks identical to the InWin BUC, except without a few fans. The CS-80 retails for $139.95, while the BUC is $94.99.

Firstly, these cases are absolute ripoffs

Secondly, they have screw mounts for fans.....

It would be cool if the cases were new products, say, with no vents so no dust could enter the case like the OP is raving on about.
