HD 7950 crossfire issues

Thread Starter
Hello all,

Last night my second HD 7950 came in (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150588). Its the same one i bought 8 months ago, just a different rev. #.

This is my first time using a crossfire set up.

I put in the card, connected both 6 pin connections. Used both crossfire bridges I had.

They are running a slight overclock at 925/1450.

I'm using 12.8 drivers with 12.9 CAPS 1. Crossfire is enabled, with gpu-z telling me and afterburner.

My FPS is worse then a single card.

I have ULPS turned off in regedit.

I need help fixing this issue fast.

My computer:
CPU: FX-8150 OC to 3.9 for now.
MotherBoard: Biostar TA990FXE
Memory: Gskill sniper series 8 gbs
Power Supply: Raidmax RX-850AE

What games are you playing, what resolution?

Also, is your card enabled in Catalyst Control Center?

I, as of recently, have been having issues with my two 6950's, and concluded one of the cards was under performing quite a bit, and sent it in for a replacement/repair.

Battlefield 3 on Ultra, All the AA's are either off or x1. and running 1920 x 1080.

I didn't change the graphics when I put the second card in.

Crossfire in CCC is enabled.

Interesting.

Find your average FPS at a certain setting on your original 7950 (by itself). Then try doing the same thing with the new 7950, by itself. If there is a big difference in performance, it could be a faulty/defective card. That's how I found out my issue with my 6950.

If both cards perform the same, then it might be a driver-related issue.

You should be running BF3 pretty well on a single card. Before my second 6950 crapped out on me, I played at 2560x1440 on Ultra, with no AA, and got 60+ frames per second normally. Back to driver related issue, my second 6950 was never able to work properly with CCC 12.8. It also never registered temperature, power-draw, activity, or fan-speed in CCC also. Check to see if your new 7950 do without your original one, can do everything the first one can.

OC'd to 1160/1435 ran Dirt3 on unltra on 1660x900 and 1080P on my 42' tv got 102 average fps... 70 minimum.. Mark 3D must be my prob cause as i benched in game my GPU clock was consistant as my CPU clock

You guys should be testing the cards at stock speeds to find the problems... And not overclocked...

When I get home from work today, I will put the cards back to stock and try playing BF3.

When i overclock in Afterburner, it applies it to both cards correct?
