I'm having a problem with one of my cards throttling, too... And it also starts emitting a burning smell when playing Crysis 3:

I was getting the same result as the OP using Trixx to OC. Got me worried about having to reformat/reinstall my OS. Tried Afterburner and now it seems that Unigine 4.0 is showing me a score of 1474 running on 1920x1200, ultra, extreme and OC 1150/1500 for both 7950s.

Check your GPU and VRM temps guys. Crysis 3 is the ONLY game that gets me into the high 50's and NOTHING else exceeds low 40's.

This game is a real GPU killer and I bet it causes a lot of throttling for people!

Also while calculating PSU power - be aware that overclocked machines draw FAR more power than standard ones.
The curve is far from linear once you exceed OE settings, which is of course one of teh reasons they chose their settings to start with - to limit TPD.
(So set that Li slider to +15% at least.)

As an example:
I can draw over 950W from mine with 2x overclocked 7970's wink.gif

MAX draw with 3x.

Doh, so much for Ivy's power consumption thriftiness? I'm sort of surprised your rig draws as much as mine in trifire given our differences in cpu.

It depends. If you are capable of maxing out your overclocks to gold card levels you will overload a 750w psu easily. If you go into the psu forum, all the pros there will tell you 750w is easily enough lol. But these pros don't have to pay for your gear when it gets fried. Ya see the distinction there? However if you stay close to stock clocks you can stay at or around 750w converted if you have a very efficient psu. What happens in a lot of cases is that ppl end up at the limits of their psu and don't know it. They suffer from crashes during benches but since they are told their psu is more than enough, they fall into a trap and cannot connect the dots. Also if you live at the edge of your psu's limits it will wear the psu down quickly.

i just bought an ax860 platinum for my 7950 crossfire frown.gif

can you do a ingame benchmark with watt reading at base clocks then another benchmark and watt reading at max clocks to confirm?

also for everyone else in the thread with crossfire theres a prototype driver coming to fix crossfire also

DO NOT USE TWO BRIDGES FOR CROSSFIRE ONLY USE ONE CROSSFIRE CONNECTOR

Can you explain why its a BAD idea to use 2 Xfire bridges for 2 GPUs?

the second slot is designed for a 3rd card only. thats what supposed to be connected to the second slot on the primary card. i automatically thought you were supposed to use two because ive seen so many pictures but after researching you only are supposed to use one. two is the OLD way your supposed to run sli/crossfire. go test it.
