Hello everyone I have been here for the past few years while I was in high school. I am a southern California boy born and raised, and after high school I sought out to make a living out on my own and moved out to Denver.. My time out her has been... difficult to say the least. thankfully I have solved many of my issues. But let me get to the main reason why I am posting here today:
My computer has started to fail, I had to replace my motherboard and doing so had cut into my savings, and my power supply is slowly failing as well. I am working as much as I can at radioshack to keep myself afloat. I was finally able to scrounge up enough money to buy a power supply from a fellow user here on the forums, since I dont have a bank account my only option was to add funds to my account is to buy a greendot moneypak card, something I have done many times in the past without problems. Now unfortunately for me they have added in new verification forms for security. Since I have moved from Cali to Colorado the couldn't verify my personal information and decided to hold my funds and not be able to add them into my paypal. I was forced to file for a refund where they will send my my money via check in 7-10 business days, something that is majorly concerning when you cant trust your computer components.
One of the things that I have wanted to do to help out on the forum was to add myself to the OCN folding team and dedicate my computer to folding when I was at work and sleeping, but due to my dodgy power supply I cant do that.
On one of langer's threads I had posted my eagerness to fold, and my situation to him, and he reached out to me and had been helping me in my time of need. He has donated money to me via my paypal account and has even given me his folding prize money to help me get the power supply I need. I still am trying to reach my goal, but I remain hopeful that I will raise enough money before this power supply quits on me.
He is a very considerate and helpful user on this forum who really wants everyone who can to fold. .
Some people on this site view folding as annoying, or a waste of time, but for someone who lost a loved one to cancer, folding gives hope that one day these lethal diseases can be destroyed so that no one else would have to go though the suffering of losing a mom, a dad, a sister, a brother, a wife a husband. Folding can bring out the best in us, using our computers for philanthropic purposes, while still being able to strut around showing our E-Peen at how powerful our computers are.
If you are reading this and you aren't folding already, why not? Set the client up to work when you are away, or sleeping. Fold when you aren't going to be doing anything with your computers, by doing this you could help save countless lives by finding the cause for many diseases.
Once again I would like to thank langer and OCN for helping me out in mt time of need.
