Wow, this board looks like it's gonna be beastly! Me wants one! This board could possibly be the stand out among an already good crop of new Z77 boards. Reserving judgement until I can get my hands on one and see how it oc's.

Great preview Sin. Can't wait to see some initial oc results from the upcoming weekend. thumb.gif

Great review/preview Sin. Can you elaborate some more about the multi-GPU PLX delay? I'm assuming it's a common issue when you go above the CPU lanes, hence the direct PCI-E slot?

well that is called a review, good job sin.
sorry if i am asking a question in wrong section as i am newbie ova here
i have selected this board for my new build as i dont know much about oc and related issues, so i was confused while choosing power supply with this board. at first i selected CORSAIR AX(single rail), then i came across ANTEC HCP (multi rails)
i googled much seeking the difference and going for the better one but could not find any significant difference

now i am really confused between single / multi rail. also please help me choose the better combination for this beast.
CORSAIR AX or ANTEC HCP ? and why ?
thanking you in anticipation smile.gif

re: Pashu85

I think today's current PSU's multi rail or single rail versions don't yield much benefit over each other. Unless the total amps on a particular rail is being maxed, though the same can still happen on single rail PSU's I suppose. Most multi rails are labeled with what component should be drawing power from it limiting any potential for under powering components.

Both Antec and Corsair make good quality PSU's, so I'd advise you to factor in price, warranty, and efficiency over single/multi rail flavors. Be sure they have 2 x 8pin CPU EPS connectors as this board does support it.

So final verdict? Single rail or multi rail? Well, with low-wattage units it doesn't matter. OCP on a single rail is useful up to about 40A or thereabouts, which is where most 550W power supplies fall. So with 550W and under power supplies, it's a moot point. However, with high wattage units, >45A on the +12V (650W and higher) picking a multi-rail unit will provide you with an extra layer of protection. It isn't essential, and it has no impact on the power supply's performance. However, it does provide an extra layer of safety in case you get a short circuit. And I would consider it a must for >1000W power supplies; [H] recently tested the single rail Corsair AX1200, but they had an accidental short circuit, and since the PSU's OCP is set for over 100A, the short overloaded and destroyed most of their testing equipment. So there is a danger with single rail units over 1000W.
