the light probably requires 5v for the LEd to turn on. You can also try changing the leads around, maybe the polarity is reversed. Otherwise your best bet is a relay if you want that switch to turn on the PC.

the switch turns on the pc, that all works fine. problem is there is a little light accent ring around the switch. which wont work. tried it a few ways. im just going to leave it be and deal with it. if it turns on, im good to go. lol

Hey guys

Id like a little info on this board about something iv never understood if someone could inform me that would be helpful.

Im very new to OCing and this seemed the right website to check out and this is the board im going to be OCing on.

Im building a new rig and iv been building computers for awhile now but something iv never taken in to account is when they say
ram like

DDR3 2400+ (OC)/1600/1333/1066

What does this mean. Iv always thought it ment it would only run that type of speed ram in other words. Always buy 1600 or 1333 or 1066.

But iv looked over gigabytes website and iv seen a few youtube videos of people using 1866 and 2133.

What ram are you guys running on your board?

What all will this board run? Thank you for your help smile.gif
post #196 of 242
it means that you can run most DDR3 memory on this board 1333 and up => Ivy Bridge (2133~2400 is your best bet ),on Sandy Bridge 2133 is your upper limit

First thanks to your very fast reply and educating me on the subject biggrin.gif

So buying 2133 ram is alright then, i was looking at some ram the only thing i want to overclock is the cpu to 4.7 to 5.0 this is my set up im going to start buying. Getting a case mobo cpu and ram first.

Mobo - GA-Z77X-UP7
CPU - i7-3770K
Cooler - H100i
Boot drive - Neutron gtx 240 SSD
Video - GTX 680 Classified 4GB Evga
Power - AX1200i

The only thing i have not picked out is the ram. I don't care about setting a world record with this thing i just want to render my videos fast and play games modded with higher textures and no stuttering.

I was looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233336. Or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231617. Could you recommend me some?
I was also looking at the Balistix Tracer ram from Crucial.
Thanks again.

Once you get Ivy you will crave higher RAM frequency ,so i would suggest this set

Balistix are fine if you like the bling ( pretty much limited to around 2200 1.64v )

the corsair dominator plat 2666C10 works well, at least the 16gb kit, 4DIMM samsung OC better than 2(on this board). lol.....

In my video here, I only have to change XMP to enable for all 4 sticks to run:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwhjdaLIY6U

Also yea if you want to know how to use OC Touch just look there.

Also TridentX 2666C11 works well, as does Kingston predator 2666C11(which is samsung, but works fine with XMP).
